The Dance vs. The Dance

Which do you prefer: the released version of "The Dance" or the unreleased, older version? I have never heard the unreleased, I'm just wondering what popular opinion is.

Also, was the older version part of a bigger project? I need some home schooling.

I prefer the 3121 version of The Dance.

Both versions are official releases - one on The Chocolate Invasion, one on 3121.

I prefer the earlier version. I think the performance, in general, and the "rougher" production show a vulnerability that is very appealing.

On the 3121 version, he's bitter. As if he's saying, "I wrote this song for you, bitch - and you threw it back in my face. Here, take it. I don't want it anymore."

i'd have to agree, the version from 3121 is better more dramatic!

i really like the first version better. it's maybe not that dramatic, but to me it sounds more sad. i like the arrangement better.

Oooh, one of my all time favourites, the 3121 version of The Dance is amazing, I have heard the other one, but I like all the drama in this one !!!

The end is amazing. There is so much more emotion in the new version, Prince has been totally rejected by someone he loved and he lets it all out in that song, as if he is on the verge of madness.

It is actually hard for me to listen to it at times. As a piece of art it is amazingly powerful.
