MOONBEAM LEVELS appreciation thread

it's just has that haunting guitar riff. the lyrics and theme of it would have fit perfectly on the 1999 album. i think it just missed making the cut. i think it's one of his best unreleased songs.

Great song. It was recorded at the end of the 1999 sessions, so not sure if it was actually intended with 1999 in mind. But it was left off the 1999 album because of it's similarities to Free.
Some people think I'm kinda cute
But that don't compute when it comes 2 Y-O-U.

This has to be one of most favorite unreleased songs along with Electric Intercourse and Neon Telephone

I think Prince did not want to detract from the party feel of 1999, but true; Moonbeam Levels is an amazing song.

I would love to hear him sing it during one of his piano sets.

I agree. It has the feel of its era, and kind of reminds my infancy, the way I used to see and feel things and people around me.

Before Prince shelved the 'Rave' album back in 1989, this song was considered in the tracklist, maybe with a new arrangement.
