Would you buy another artist's CD just because Prince plays a cover of it?

For example, would you go out and buy Radiohead now?

It's odd that I've only got into Radiohead in the last month or so, but I'm loving 'em.

But, in the past, I've certainly have bought artists based on Prince connection like Sly Stone and others for me.

Y'all??

I buy stuff that has influenced him or that was around the same time as him.
But not for a cover.

I might...and I have purchased Nikka Costa and Corrine Bailey Rae..however, I am not sure I have heard a "Radiohead" song...and I don't know if I would listen 2 it frequently enough to own it.

Hun, they covered Prince! No?

I get what you're saying because I love hearing Prince songs from other artists that he either wrote, produced, or they covered of his.

But songs of others that he covers then for me no.

I didn't rush out and get Cheryl crows album when he did Everyday is a winding road, or Joan Osbournes for One of us, even though I love his versions of them!

Yes because I like to be introduced to new music and it's one way of finding out about an artist I might like - if Prince likes them then chances are it's musically sound even if not always my taste! Prob wouldn't pay shop CD prices though..!
You might not like the taste but I'm still gonna stick your face in this FUNK

Yup!
Loved the versions I've heard so far, and I haven't heard that many.
But just the fact that he transforms the song into his own creation.
Like "Creep" and "Best of You/All Along the Watchtower".
cool

No but I remember back in 2001 & 2002, I was interested in getting Alicia Keys and Norah Jones's debut CD's but when I had heard that Alicia had done a cover of How Come U Don't Call Me Anymore, and that Norah had performed at Prince's Celebration at Paisley Park, it made me want to buy their CD's even more and I did.
I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

man, he has such an amazing body of music that it's sad to see him constrict it down to the basics. he's too talented for the lineup he's doing. estelle 81

....I bought Goapele's album just cause I heard Prince was a fan of hers
Boy was that a waste of money confused
Her music is too boring and run of the mill for me

Most cds I get for "Prince reasons" I end up liking though smile
If you will, so will I
