All great for the very few fans that Trent has. Why don't you stay on the site and stop boring us with your rants about how Prince does not do this or that.

The fact is P has the attention span of a nat. He was on the internet doing things back in 96 some good (music club) some bad (receipes) the point is he has been their and done that already. It is possible that he was not seeing a financial return on his investment or just feels he does not need to be bothered since he is raking in so much money touring. Whatever the reason it is his choice. If this disturbs move on.

yes Prince can be an arse. I didnt say people were juvenile if they werent on this forum or indeed ON all the time - far from it I was saying that most people DO moan and bitch all the time.

I havent got rose tinted or purple tinted specs, Im not an ardent fan, if youve seen any of my posts before you will know Im not a crazy like some in here. Im not a fan of prince the person but I enjoy his music. Some may argue Im not a fan at all. Is Prince a good business man? no he is not, has he been lucky? yes mostly!

I was suggesting that you all take a look at his new strategies and consider his current marketing and what lies behind it. In my opinion (juvenile or not) and as a marketing and PR professional: Prince has decided that the web is a mes, too much in its infancy yet too far along to exploit its infancy and has reverted to a more old-fashioned form of self-promotion.

He stops his sites, he doesnt re-release old music, he failed with the DRM thing and his previous sales (although his site has told us that matter is in hand to try and rectify the problem).

The only people who suffered any loss because of downloads and drm are the eejits who didnt back up to CD!, why anyone whould store all their music in one place is beyond me - so I suggest you go do your homeowrk and come back at me when you have something constructive to add to this discussion.

You are right about the touring, it makes HUGE financial sense to tour which is why so many of the crap bands of today tour, they cant sell their music any more, the record companies know that and its mostly due to the net and peoples ability to copy, download and distribute stuff amongst themselves. Buying music will eventually IMO become a thing of the past. However paying for concerts and seeing LIVE action is where its at.

Prince has like you said BEEN THERE< DONE THAT already - its old news!

I have nothing against NIN or Trent -- they released a couple free songs -- whooptie do but the song I heard was forgetable comapared to some of their older stuff. And the funny thing is P has released free stuff too and some of it was forgetable compared to his older stuff. That's only comparison I see between the two artists.
