I just thought that was so good, and it was nice to see Prince dancing...Everybody looked like they were having so much fun...

I liked the line that said something like...You can't have me once without wanting me twice... He's finally admitted to being a dorito...And I am certainly not turning that boy loose from my dreamz...no matter what he sings about...The end. cool

a dorito Tame? falloff.. is that a commercial? i dont watch tv i dont keep up with stuff..

Like I said before, if you didn't like the song or performance, maybe you just aren't a Prince fan.

The best part about Prince.org the people who insist that if you don't like everything the man has ever produced you aren't a fan.

Fun song, fun lyrics, cool performance. I would have preferred he kick more ass on the guitar, but that's just a personal preference.

So is the new song paying homage to Sly just a bit, or is it just me?

ispear...this is how bands were back in the day (70s);he's just bringing back real music with real musicians. It was too short though, but usually that's how it is on Jay Leno, the artists seems to be only given 7 minutes to perform.

If I want to hear how music was back in the day, I'll listen to one of those records. This song has nothing on Sly, and nothing on any Prince song from his glory days. This was a truly pathetic performance, sorry man.

Ok, different strokes for different folks. One thing though, you can't tell an artist how to write his music or how to play it, no more than you can tell an artist how to paint his own creations, but hey, you're entitled to your opinion.

Damn!!!

That WAS HORRIBLE. So embarassing.

It's like, after so much great progression through the 80s and into the 90s, he mentally went back to the 70s and got stuck there.

I was watching like, what year am I in? This is SO LAME. I mean this would barely be good in the 70s. I can't believe I told people to watch this.

He is so outdated. I don't know what to say. The hair, the song title, the lyrics, the movements, the vibe, ... it's caricature really.

Had this been a decades-old broadcast sent back to Earth from aliens it would be more comprehendable.

I thought this new song was horrible. My girl and I sat through an equally boring and terrible Jay Leno show with about 90% more commercials than show... really, does anybody watch TV anymore?

Anyway, this new song was flat, boring, and utterly worthless. Yet ANOTHER song about how his online fans "don't know him" and that they should "give him what he needs". "Turn Me Loose" makes "Get on the Boat" look like Mozart. smile Give it a rest already.

And what kind of band was that? About a hundred people on stage. The only bright spot was Renato, who is a real trooper to lower himself to play such beautiful keys to such low quality music -- what a mess of a song. Embarrassingly bad -- a performance and song that wouldn't appeal to a person who was 18 or 80 or even the mentally ill. I felt ashamed watching it with my girl. sad

Prince... in all seriousness... what's happened to your skills?

WTH was that?

Why'd he pick some random Musicology demo or reject as THEE song?

And either he was a little tipsy or he rolled off one of the random lesbians he has girly relations with, right before the show. He wasn't really there. The audience was about to NUT though. lol

I do have to give him points for the weave though.

one more thought..... this type of music is 'fun' and everything, but i feel like it's taking over his creative side, where's the complex drum machines and crazy synths? this music he's been so fond of playing lately has really shown his age..... which, in case you all forgot, is damn near 50 years old.

Yeah, but I can tell a cook when his food isn't any good. Do I eat at McDonalds? No, because the food is hideous. Do I like "Turn Me Loose"? No, because the song is hideous.

Even songs on Diamonds and Pearls and Love Symbol were tighter, thicker. Prince doesn't work with any real musicians anymore... actually, he may work with real musicians but they don't have any input or influence like Wendy & Lisa and musicians of the past did. That much is evident when you listen to the songs. What is Prince writing about? The predictable love song. The predictable "religious truth song". The semi-funky if you're 60+ years old song. Where's the magic? The meaning? The production? The lyrics?

At this rate Prince should just get up there and start ripping on the guitar and not try to sing or write or anything, because he's proven himself incapable of writing a good song anymore. And if you're a musician and you can't write a great song, what do you have? Nothing... so you've got to patrol the internet trying to shut down sites. Why? Because you can't write music anymore so you have lots of free time.

His time as a great, meaningful songwriter, with interesting stories to tell, is over.

Cue up the "give me my freedom don't post pictures of me" song.

When you start wishing Tony M was back in the band, you know Prince has hit an all time low.

What's Michael Dean and Tobias think? I can tell you what they think. They think it sucks. smile

I can't see it at all. Don't have (C)NBC here. And I live in europe, so I can't watch it online here :
http://www.nbc.com/The_To...odes.shtml
because they block european ip's.

And thanks to prince it'll never be on youtube. neutral

I read over at HQ that he did do more songs after the taping. He did Guitar and 1999.

It went something like this:

you don't really know me
stop taking pictures of me
if you really love me
you'll give me what i need
turn me loose!

blah blah blah blah blah blah
i'm so great you're not
blah blah blah blah blah blah
i need complete control
turn me loose!

Maybe there was even a line about a "chain" around a "waist."

I bet Prince is reading the org right now getting upset that we don't like this new "masterpiece." He's like Mary Sharon, when she stayed up all night to think of a response, and when she blurted it out, it was pathetic. smile

Okay, okay, I get your point and you're going way off ispear76, if you didn't like it you just didn't like it, point blank. It's not the end of the world for goodness sakes. Secondly this thread is not about him closing down sites or when he played with Wendy and Lisa, by the way, that time is over, he's moved on. Also, this thread is about the Jay Leno performance, and you already made your point about it.

Peace
