Malfunction at Paisley Park

Hey y'all I got another question. I heard a story about how when Prince first had built Paisley Park, in its early stages of getting the studios all cranked up there was a thunderstorm and when the storm had past, probably due to a power outage, the sound board had suffered damage. One of the songs on Sign of the Times was recorded and Mixed and it was found to have had a slight defect. I am listening to the tracks and can't tell... which one y'all think it is?

You have 31 hours and 21 minutes staring at 12 Noon my time.

I will just sleep on the couch while y'all figure it out.

hcuoc peels y'all
I may have the jelly 4 ur peanut butta but u got 31 hours and 21 minutes left.

Well, there's not much high end at all on Dorothy Parker. And, the mix on IIWYG is just horrible.

Frankly, I just wish we could cheer up Milty.

Why the long face, amigo? comfort

The only malfunction I know of is Forever In My Life, where the backing vocals are heard a few seconds earlier than was originally planned.

But Prince liked what he heard and left it like that. I did not ever hear about a thunderstorm creating malfunctions in actual songs, but it might have been like this. I always understood it was due to human error.

this is how the story goes.

Prince was in the studio at the house with Susan Rogers. there was a snow storm and the power went out. when the power came back on, the sound desk was only working at half the power or something like that and so his vocals were recorded at half the speed. when they played the track back at full speed, the vocal was sped up which is what they realized when they did play it back at full power.
Susan was thinking that Prince was gonna flip out but he actually liked it and kept it.

wouldn't that be about 14 years too late (judging by the copyright date)?

I don't know about any storm, but Susan Rogers spoke about how the vocal recording of If I Was Your Girlfriend got distorted and how she thought she'd get fired for it, but Prince liked it.

I can't remember which book it's in to quote it properly.

It was in Alex Hahn's "Possessed".

hold it... yes page 110 and 111 - snow storm - Dorthy Parker - sound board operates at Half the wattage robbing high end and giving the song a murky distant sound, If I was your Girlfriend - rare anomoly that SR could not get her hands on causes his voice to distort on certain words - and finally ForeverIn my Life since she had no vocal playback during the recording when it was mixed his vocal trac laggs the entire song

I was wondering why only half of the people found my double secret videos posted on that --- you know place... okay so the answer I gave in the previous post "Strange Relationship" was wrong. The last one about Ingrid Chavez nearly half got, or at least stop discussing the topic long enough to post the code word backwards into tube and caught the video that may or may not have been posted...
