ok, I am sick of listening to Prince's greatest accomplishment in inferior quality!

When is that man going to remaster and re-release it!

In fact ALL of his analogue albums??

I agree that the digital mastering of this doesn't sound too well. But it has nothing to do with digital against analog. In such an album as SOTT, the analog format is very important. The sound, the production, is all based on analog, which I believe the digital mastering house has destroyed.

hate to say it but only two things will lead to remastered catalog. Prince goes broke or he buys the farm

Marriage, fatherhood, and life outside of music never worked out, so let's just say that Sign O' the Times was his greatest accomplishment. Unless he unleashes something better in the future, I would say that is his greatest accomplishment.

I have the one T did. But I'm sure someone else has done one since. I never bothered to look for a newer one before the hub closed.

Most of the digital remastering they do these days are horrible. They're just squashing the dynamics even more to get it "louder", if you like your music flat then cool, I mean that's what you're hearing on the radio or most new releases these days but it's hardly "better".

If you want the best quality sound available you'd probably be best off tracking down the vinyl, a 44.1/16 bit CD isn't capable of getting anywhere close to that type of sound quality

I also think that it would be best to get the mixes and master from them, and not master over the old master. And if there's no choice, than from tape, if a good one still exists, and not vinyl which is limited to 12khz.

Oh, and another thing. I'd do a remastering, if I knew I wouldn't get sued.

My vinyl sounds great.
