Sign O The times Remastered

ok, I am sick of listening to Prince's greatest accomplishment in inferior quality!

When is that man going to remaster and re-release it!

In fact ALL of his analogue albums??

shrug it'd be cool though. glad to have sign o the times in any quality. if it was all cloudy sounding, like alot of bootlegs etc., it'd still be one of the greatest albums ever made and one of my personal favorites, so shrug boxed

So you're saying that analog is inferior than digital?
Are you out of your mind?

I agree that the digital mastering of this doesn't sound too well. But it has nothing to do with digital against analog. In such an album as SOTT, the analog format is very important. The sound, the production, is all based on analog, which I believe the digital mastering house has destroyed.

It sure wasn't keeping a marriage(s) together, it sure wasn't having a child, it sure wasn't family, it sure wasn't public relations . . . . yeah I agree, Sign O' the Times has to be it.

Whoa, let's not get personal here. Is there really a need to mention things like his deceased child? That is tasteless.

hate to say it but only two things will lead to remastered catalog. Prince goes broke or he buys the farm

That's right, let's pretend it never happened.

Marriage, fatherhood, and life outside of music never worked out, so let's just say that Sign O' the Times was his greatest accomplishment. Unless he unleashes something better in the future, I would say that is his greatest accomplishment.

I never implied that we should be in denial; what I stated quite plainly was that we don't need to mention the personal life of Prince when the original poster was obviously making his comment within the context of Prince's professional career.

if it happens - it will be censored - the housequake 'bullshits' will be removed or covered over....so it would never be the same

I have the one T did. But I'm sure someone else has done one since. I never bothered to look for a newer one before the hub closed. neutral

Most of the digital remastering they do these days are horrible. They're just squashing the dynamics even more to get it "louder", if you like your music flat then cool, I mean that's what you're hearing on the radio or most new releases these days but it's hardly "better".

If you want the best quality sound available you'd probably be best off tracking down the vinyl, a 44.1/16 bit CD isn't capable of getting anywhere close to that type of sound quality

I agree 100%. There's even a group of engineers who are protesting against this and started a petition.
I also think that it would be best to get the mixes and master from them, and not master over the old master. And if there's no choice, than from tape, if a good one still exists, and not vinyl which is limited to 12khz.

Oh, and another thing. I'd do a remastering, if I knew I wouldn't get sued.
