At least the liner notes credit this song to Tommy Barbarella and not Prince.

The suit filed is against all those who have allegedly infringed on the copyright in one way or the other, and the list is long. They include: Prince, who did the title song, New Power Generation, 40 Acres & A Mule Filmworks Inc., 40 Acres & A Mule Musicworks Inc., Twentieth Century Fox Corporation, MGM, HBO, Starz Media, Starz Cinema, Starz In Black, Warner Brothers, Anchor Bay, The Walt Disney Company and Time Warner.

In 1997-1999 I had several meetings with attorneys in the United States. While the attorneys acknowledged it was a valid case, I didn't have the monetary means to fund the discovery and court case at the time.
According to Brandon, "In 1997-1999 I had several meetings with attorneys in the United States. In addition, I also found that the movie just went to DVD in its 10th anniversary edition in 2006 (Anchor Bay released 2006). Since I was doing business and spending a lot of time in Barbados, I decided to take legal action while there."

Brandon retained Attorney Ernest W. Jackman, LLB (Hons) in Barbados who has assembled an impressive legal team and obtained all documents/information needed in 1996 to present so the case can go forward. A Deed of Assignment has been made giving BrandNu Entertainment Inc. the copyrights to the song "Phone Sex". The suit is filed under an international copyright treaty act at the Supreme Court in Barbados, the base of his company, and promises to be a test case for the act.

There's a certain similarity, but I'm not sure that it's close enough to win a case
over. Also, when's this GOMAB track supposed to have been released? I don't
remember it at all, and I can't find any record of the band or the track anywhere
on the net (other than it's mention in this case).

They sound a little bit alike but I am not sure if this guy has a case and when was the GOMAB song published.

It really doesn't matter. The important factor here is...Prince is being sued for making the very same violations he's suing and intimidating other people for.

Something I'm pretty sure the judges in those cases are going to frown upon!

And the hypocrisy of it all, stinks so bad, I doubt he'll ever be able to get that stench off.

Oh come on....since when does Prince allow his bandmembers to write songs for him? It's possible that Tommy had a little input,but I think it's safe to say that "Girl 6" is a Prince composition,despite what the credits say.I remember reading that,because he was feuding with Warners at the time,the song was credited to "The New Power Generation" but we all know who's really behind it.

Have you ever heard Laid Back´s "White Horse" ? Or Marc Bolan´s predecessor to Cream ? ( Can´t remember the name off the top of my head) .There are lots of other examples.

No big deal, really, as I said above. This happens all the time and doesn´t take away anything from his shine and his genius but your question is really interesting : Why would Prince knowingly do something like this ? And why did he do it in the past ? He doesn´t need it, that´s for sure, and most of the time he did it, the songs never became huge hits anyway ( well, except for Do Me Baby and maybe Erotic City and Cream but even that is debatable). Why does a prolific, brilliant artist like Prince get inspired by other people´s songs ?
It´s a bit strange for someone who came up with the most original songs in pop history all by himself.
And this Girl 6 thingy was never ever really a hit to begin with, so I don´t know why those folks are suing him. Neither movie nor soundtrack were big hits commercially, and I don´t recall a huge, big hit Girl 6 single.

Putting Prince's name, or any name in a lawsuit means nothing.. Most of those spouting venom because Prince will not allow them to have their way, would actually be in jail by now if this were the case.

You can prove to him that the photos and some boots, boot dicussions, or illegal and un-authorized materials mean nothing to you.

The GOMAB track, "Phone Sex", sounds like "Girl 6" & "Gett Off" by Prince, and Faze O's "Riding High".
