If you could be like Prince in any way... I was just thinking earlier.

If I could be like Prince, I would love to be a singer/songwriter, and to be able to play so many instruments like he does. If I even had HALF of Prince's talent, I'd be very happy (but unfortunately, I don't). Irish Diplomacy: The art of telling someone to go to hell, and having them look forward to the trip.

I know that Prince is an enormous talent, wildly entertaining, and I am a huge fan. But I don't really feel that he is that self-confident or comfortable in his own skin. Mostly I've come to this conclusion because as human beings, I think each of us have little things about ourselves that we are not happy with. But with Prince being as visible as he has been over the years, you can't help but observe certain things about him that throw up red flags in the confidence department. Not to be picking on Prince, because I would be one of the first to stick up for him in a fight (yes, I guess I drank the Purple Kool-Aid, lol). But for one thing, I know he's self-conscious (not comfortable with) his height. Though I'm sure it's a good thing that he weighs as little as he does, or else his ankles would have demanded that he give up those high-heels years ago! As it is, I'm sure when he gets home, and no one is around to see, those pumps are the first things to come off!
And for another, he seems to be self-conscious about the length of his neck (thus all the high collars and other designs that always cover his neck). And I've noticed when I have seen him close-up, his neck is very long (some would even say elegantly so), especially in comparison to the size of his head (the physical size, not his ego). I'm sure there are other things I could point out, but again; I don't want to pick on Prince, and we all have our issues. These are just my observations against what many see as Prince being so comfortable in his own skin. He's human, just like us, just hugely more talented than many in the musical department. And so it goes without saying, there's plenty about Prince that I would like to be like. I guess the main thing (aside from having his Bank Account, obviously) is that I would LOVE to have my own personal Paisley Park, and the unlimited time he has to schedule his day however he pleases. In regards to all the things about Prince that we love and admire, I say "good for him!" God Bless Him! He's earned everything he has, mostly in the face of great opposition, prejudice, and hate. I remember back in the day, people could not seem to stop hurling the "F" bomb at him at every turn. Now those same guys would give their left nut to have the women that Prince has had and discarded. Gay, Straight, or somewhere in between - I Love Prince, and there's plenty to admire and envy about him!

It rivals my really long post, but I guess you're right. We're all a little self-conscious. Prince just appears to have things so together. Even if that's covering up for insecurities, I wouldn't mind at least appearing as confident as he does. There's so much to him, so many traits I'd like to have. I think the main thing I'd like to have, if not self-confidence, is his lack-of-fear of saying whatever's on his mind. I keep my feeling lacked inside in public, so most of the time, it's hard for some people to get to know me. He's never afraid to say what he means and means what he says. I agree with you, he's a great lesson is how to move beyond our insecurities. He's amazing in so many ways.
