Prince's Cover of "Betcha By Golly Wow"

Does anyone prefer Prince's version of this song over the original by The Stylistic's? I mean The Sylistic's version is good and all but I just love Prince's version. His voice on that song is incredible. I just adore Prince's version of this song cool.
"And When The Groove Is Dead And Gone, You Know That Love Survives, So We Can Rock Forever" RIP MJ heart

"Baby, that was much too fast"...Goodnight dear sweet Prince. I'll love you always heart

I think I like the one by Phyllis Hyman (Norman Connors) best
then Prince... then The Stylistics...

I had never heard the song
until Prince did it
then later I heard the orginal
and then Phyllis'

because those who mind don't matter

There's no comparison here because Prince's cover of "Betcha By Golly Wow" is superb! Ginuwine's version of "When Doves Cry" on the other hand is just painful to listen to. I'd like to forget that I ever heard that song.

i too heard Prince's version first... and it is my fav also. It's so beautiful. And depending on the mood, it makes me tear up. Same is the case with "I can't make u love me".

I'm not too fond of his version, either neutral

Those classic Thom Bell/Linda Creed-written songs are very hard to re-make.The original versions are always the best.

My uncle James, who passed away in '94, left me his Stylistic albums. He turned me on to them when I was a little girl.
Sorry, P. Not a big fan of the remake. disbelief

I like the original, but maybe that's because I heard it first.

i think the prince cover of this song is dreadful. or maybe i'm simply holding it up to his live cover of just my imagination. either way, his rendition was weak and an absolutely horrible choice as lead single from emancipation.

I like Prince's version better, because I don't like the vocals on the original.

That said, he tried too hard to make it sound like The Most Beautiful Girl In The World. and it definitely shouldn't have been a single from Emancipation, let alone the lead single.
