the over-production of Prince's version strips the emotion that song has right out of it.
this message brought to you by logic.

Prince does an alright job of the song, but it's just impossible to live up to the Stylistics version.

Does anyone prefer Prince's version of this song over the original by The Stylistic's? I mean The Sylistic's version is good and all but I just love Prince's version. His voice on that song is incredible. I just adore Prince's version of this song cool.

Are you kidding ? eek

the Stylistics version is MUCH better.

I like the song just fine ... but what ruins it is when he says "I love you baby" at the end. shake

The cover of I Can't Make U Love Me is much better.

The original is better to me. I love the Stylistics, they should be in the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame. I do like the part Prince credits them by talking about "The words of another, who is truly in love, will do just fine". I like Prince's version just not better than the original.
Making love and music are the only things worth fighting for.

princes version is wonderful but almost too perfect. I haven't heard the original.

Obviously Sananda would have done a better Job.

omg you're kidding?! it makes me want to vomit, the way he took such a beautiful, melancholy song and turned it into yet another generic sex vamp.

Thanks, it's 8/8/8

We picked that date b/c if you lay the 8 down, it is the infinity symbol plus the number 8 mean new begining.

P's version of that song will always be special to me because it came out right before I found out I was pregnant with my first born. I remember sitting on the table humming it and when the nurse turned around she said " Its positive". Thats how I found out I was going to be a mommy for the first time...

WHAT?! No, it's a great cover. It still beautiful and melancholy, and if anything adds this really sad desperate feeling to it. It's actually one of my favorites from Emanstipation hmph!

I musth honestly say i have never heard the original by The Stylistics.

But anyone agrees with me that Princes cover version has splendid background vocals by himself?

I mean, he proves again he is a master when it comes to delivering gorgous background vocals.

I've just listened both versions back to back, and there's no compairison... :lol

Prince ruined that song with all those super high pitched notes. I mean he's all over the place vocally

The original song sounds smooth and perfect.

I just hate the way he sings the first line of the second verse

YeYeYeYeIf I could I'd catch a falling star... lol

Yeah, I like it, Some folks will just mess up a good song, but Prince knows what to do, he knows not to go there if it's not as good as or better than the original.
