Honestly!

Does'nt CJ have anything else better to do? I wonder how much she gets paid as a gossip columnist because the most dirt she can fish up most of the time is Prince related. So wht if he wore too much makeup (that I agree, it actually makes him look older). Nonetheless, I wear alot of makeup, and who cares? Only if he satrted to look like little richard is where I would draw the line.

Word to CJ:

Drop the Prince subject! mad

The turn this thread has taken is quite interesting. I expected that standard CJ-Hate and whatnot but not some of this other stuff.

We all know had one of the music collumnists from the StarTrib done even a one paragraph blurb about this appearance it could be a featured news item and no one would care.

I personally didn't know if it was 'newsworthy' or not. But, being as we are in a dryspell with Prince right now, I can see the choice to feature it. CJ funnies aside, it lets people know that he's been around and still is popping up on stage. Which is information that follks here allegdly care about.

It's just too bad only CJ had the info. Although I'm glad someone did as a few coworkers had mentioned that Prince had been at Babalu recently and I thought it was pure rumor. Like her or not, CJ's blurb helps me know that it DID happen...

mmkay, i brought it up so i guess i should put it to bed...at least from my perspective anyway.

upon greater reflection, i think:

* yeah, okay, this was an appropriate morsel to pop on the front page, because ya know what? nobody else bothered to cover it in the MPLS media, and people have been buzzing that it DID actually happen, so this is the closest to an "official" account of the event that we're gonna get. so, okay. that's totally kosher.

* i do think, however, the org's been a bit, how shall we say, GRATUITOUS about inclusion of CJ's column on the front page. slow going season or no, i thought this site always took pride in putting the solid stuff on the front page and leaving stuff like CJ's ongoing crusade in the forums, for the most part. yet the hint that she and Mani are "pen pals" is front page stuff? Yeah, I don't know. Not thrilled. I don't see that being the standard on peer sites, and I think it brings the property value down a titch. A thread with her column in it? Sure. A sticky? Whatevs. But some of the conjecture that's wound up on the front page lately, I dunno, just kinda makes me sigh and shake my head. Which leads me to my last point:

* I should just shut the f*ck up about the way this site is run because I had a chance to influence it and I quit. When I was a mod, I had certain standards and certain criteria for what was considered news and what wasn't. I'm not a mod anymore. Someone else makes those decisions. I could completely disagree with those decisions, but big deal. It's you guys' decision to make now. If you wanna put Bat Boy on the front page cuz the Weekly World News says that's Prince's secret alter ego, then by all means, dammit - DO IT! lol Honestly, if Prince's folks had their panties in a knot enough about all the rumors flying around these days, they wouldn'ta dismantled his official news source and left the reportage to the non-official fan sites.

So I say have at it. I had a momentary lapse of judgment and, I say as non-commitally as I can get away with, it won't happen again. Consider it post traumatic mod syndrome. lol

Dear CJ,

You don't say Prince dared play the geetar in public a scant two months after divorce papers were filed? I for one agree that it is improper as well as irreligious and in very poor taste to venture out in public in anything but black in the first year of a breakup... and there certainly should be no laughing, smiling and merry-making!

Monique wouldn't last a week with Prince ever if she was a Prince-esque-looking woman.

Prince: I have the salad, vingarette on the side, and mineral water

Monique: I have the smothered pork chops, extra gray, and a bottle of Chanti

Prince: PORK AND LIQUOR!!! Be Gone!

yeah, then he'd down all the wine and sneak a few bites of pork chop. smile

lol Me too. I went out that night (reason why I couldn't be there for Darin's celebration) with an old friend and we actually even went to a club downtown. whofarted Something I NEVER do anymore.

I could have just as easily gone to Babalu, where I've been a few times, rather than the lame place we ended up at. confused

DreamBoat Annie

Heading out this morning into the sun
Riding on the diamond waves, little darlin' one

Warm wind caress her
Her lover it seems
Oh, Annie
Dreamboat Annie my little ship of dreams

Going down the city sidewalk alone in the crowd
No one knows the lonely one whose head's in the clouds

Sad faces painted over with those magazine smiles
Heading out to somewhere won't be back for a while

Interesting you should post these lyrics. I was just listening to it yesterday, and it actually appeared in a dream again to me last night. hmmm Love this song. nod
