Absolutely. Controversy.

Controversy!! Was the first time I ever heard him. In a friend's car in '82.

The songs that got me hooked forever were D.M.S.R. and Let's Work. I danced for hours and hours.

I literally have laughed (Movie Star), cried (Sometimes it Snows In April), Contemplated (The Question Of U) and just tripped out on his music for 24 years.

Many of my friends have not understood, but I wonder how boring music would be or would have been without P.

I could understand that. If you think of the time, how many people were outright asking "Am I black or white" "Am I straight or gay"

Precisely.

Beside the statement the lyrics made, the musical arrangement itself was a vast departure from anything being released at the time. No one was creating layered vocals like that against layered keyboards and such a throbbing rhythm bed. I remember being totally transfixed by that vocal. It almost melded new wave and soul music of the period into an entirely new form.

That's interesting. What did you like about it that made you a fan? I have not heard this CD myself which is why I'm asking.

I wanna be your lover is what did it for me back in 79 or 80, but Private Joy is another of my favorites as well.

Have you really listened to "Joy in Repetition"?
I live in Antigua and before "Blue Light" I think this was his first official attempt at reggae though not hard core.

It is a beautiful song, with a even more beautiful guitar solo.

Yup, I have the live version from One Night Alone. I have not listened to the studio version in a long time.

Soft & Wet. The first time I heard it (in Junior High) I was like, "who is that!!!!" I loved the whole album, it was unlike anything that I had been listening to and then when the second album came out, that did it. razz I have been hooked ever since.

What always does it for me is the non commercial, b-side, no radio play songs.
