Rolling Stone magazine mentions Prince among top tours of summer 2006!

The latest edition of Rolling Stone magazine with Keifer Sutherland on the cover has an article by Steve Knopper titled: "Hot Tours, Cool Summer: Madonna, Radiohead, Prince and The Who are top tours of 'o6"!!

He states: "Prince-- who has yet to make an official tour announcement , although concert-promotion sources are optimistic he'll be on the road-- was the top-grossing act in 2004 ($87.4 million) and is likely to do huge business this year."

The next page mentions first details on what to expect on "eight of the season's hottest tickets", and mentions regarding Prince: "After retiring his hits with the top tour of 2004, Prince, sources predict, will tour behin 3121, his biggest hit since the Eighties."

I wonder when he'll make an official announcement for a summer tour. He should make it soon to garner interest on the album once again!!

What I want to know, if he does tour, if he will actually not sing any of his old hits and just perform mainly new material?! That would be great!!

Right!! It said "Prince-- who has yet to make an official tour announcement..."

You can stop right there cause it doesn't mean a thing.

altavista

He said that he was going to tour this summer at the press conference for the TAC video months ago.

Other than that, there absolutely no point to having that press conference. Very weird.

That said, it wouldn't be a surprise if he changed his mind. Promoting this album has been so wack that who knows what he'll decide to do.
Come here, babe.. yeah...

he'll be on tour. how long has it been since prince DIDN'T tour an album? chaos and disorder? gold experience? i think even with those records he did some stuff in random cities.

yeah, he'll tour. he's probably contracted to do one anyway.

lol

All this means is that there is still no "official" news. Most have felt that a tour is coming...but when? where? etc?

Funny but true...Prince is probably feeling the chain on his neck once again, what with the American Idol hoopla, and is probably regretting getting into this one deal contract that was one contract more than he had bargained for...

I don't do a lot of Prince predictions but this one is a sinch. He'll definitely tour in one way or another. My bet is that he's taking some time and putting the band and set list together as we speak. It will be the ticket of the summer.

Still, he should have made some TV appearances by now and at least mention that he's planning to tour this summer instead of giving us this silent treatment especially when he just had a #1 album. It's been almost a month since 3121 came out, and no word from him at all. Another strange and inexplicable chapter in Prince's career, but then again, we should be used to it by now, except we had always hoped it would change. I mean, not even a statement from him thanking his fans for all the support over the years putting his album on top!!

The "Ultimate Live Experience" tour in Europe ( spring 1995 ) was essentially the "Gold Experience" tour. And as you stated above , he did in fact do some shows in random US cities as well, like, for instance, the NYC Palladium show in 1994 (?), where he played lots of songs from the Gold Experience.

I don´t think he´s contracted to do a tour, I simply can´t imagine that someone so keen on being free would sign a contract to do a tour.

Well, definitely I'd be more surprised if he doesn't go on tour than if he did this year. But it's just odd that he hasn't made an announcement, even if the dates are not definite yet. I find this puzzling; what is he waiting for. He just had a #1 album and he's missing all this opportunity to promote the album and an upcoming tour.

drool yeah the Palladium show was awesome!
He toured for The Rainbow Children, which was also an amazing show, &
even for New Power Soul in 98, so bring it on! 3121! woot!

....do you think he would play The Word live?
maybe accoustic...

oh yeah, i'm betting on the word. maybe just cuz i wanna here it live so badly. i'd love to see him end his set with purple rain (cuz you know he's gotta do it) but then, for the encore, come back and do the cross, the word, and anna stesia. damn that would be sweet!

actually, if he just did those three songs ANYWHERE in the set back to back i'd be in heaven (no pun intended).
