Damn staright, it's on my IPOD at the start of all the Camille trax. It's also a Bold track to open an album with. Right now it's my fave.

Nah, don't like the track that much (fan since 1985).

For me, Lolita and The Dance represent old skool Prince more than 3121 does. Lolita could have been a cut from one of The Time albums, and The Dance could have easily been a track on Parade (apart from the dodgy Victoria Beckham/Cher vocal effect he used toward the end which he also used more extensively on the "track no self-respecting Prince fan should ever mention again" off of 3121).

I find it too much of a drawl - I sped it up a tad (Sound Forge: 'Time Stretch' to 85% of orig) - speeds it up slightly, just enough to make it enjoyable and gets rid of any 'urban'/hip-hop feel it has from being just that little bit too slow.

the best thing about it is that its not "life o the party." Otherwise a generic Prince partaaay song.

"That's were the party be" makes my ears hurt.

You guys always seem to amaze me. I agree with the poster. This is a CLASSIC Prince song. I can't understand that this reminds you of Life o The Party. Is it just because he says the word "party?" Don't get it. This song could've replaced "Dream Factory" imo...totally reminds me of 86 Prince, but updated.

It is impossible to please everybody..... To me this track is one of the best openings ever! For those who like Reflection I guess it`s hard to feel the Prince-magic in a track like this. But thats ok. For me he is best when he makes crazyfunk.

Funny, the title track is my FAVORITE "3121" track by far. I bought the album for a friend who is new to Prince but really likes his music. Upon listening to the album twice he said to me, "I really like "Lolita" and "Fury." I said, "Yes, but what about the first song on the disc?" "No comment," was his reply.

I'm a sucka for that ultra-cheap lo-fi synth horns solo!

The track has grown on me, but I think it's kind of boring. It gets a little monotonous, and as an opener, it could force many newer listeners to push the forward button.

it is ala days of wild/dreamfactory/lovesexy and crystal
ball all in one.

it's a few steps behind The Word for me. But it seems like every time I'm listening to it I hear some new little sumptin that makes me smile again.

Sounds like a close cousin to Radical Man 2045... which isn't a bad thing -- I think on 2045 he was more on the experimental side and 3121 has a better groove and more solid lyrics.

The delivery is the only thing that saves it from death. The tune sounds like something written by a 4 year old.

Is it just me, or do you think this was actually recorded, or sampled from a mid 90's track? Its odd that it sounds so similar to Days Of Wild, and then we find out that it is Michael & Sonny.

I bet its simply a sampled groove from 94.

I like some of the more out of the ordinary touches on this track. The distorted vocals (its not the camille voice, just distorted in so many ways), the warped guitar sounds, the murky synths. This is classic prince. It may not be a classic tune, but it grooves along brilliantly.

Awsome tune!

I just hope there is an extended version lying around somewhere ready to be leaked to the world of P2P...
