Brit Awards gossip

The following was in the UK tabloid this morning:

PRINCE is to team up with old singing partner SHEILA E for his comeback performance at the Brit Awards next Wednesday.

It is believed the pint-sized star will perform classic hit Little Red Corvette at the bash at London’s Earls Court.

Bollocks!
There are three sides to every story. My side, your side, and the truth. And no one is lying. Memories shared serve each one differently

They said a few weeks ago that he would be performing with the Pussycat Dolls.

Sheila E? Well its's a step up from the vile Pussycat Dolls.

Incidentally, C4 teletext claims today that 3121 will be out in Britain in a one-off deal with Island Records on 20 March, with Black Sweat being the first single 'a week later'.

'Prince In Talks To Sign For Brits' article from English newspaper 'The Sun...

© 2006 The Sun

I can't remember where I read it, but it was confirmed that Prince had indeed been approached, but would not be performing with the Pussycat Dolls at all if he appeared. It also stated that nothing had been confirmed at that stage, but let's be realistic here - he hasn't been back to England sicne 2002, and after the massive success of both the Musicology album and tour Stateside, it goes without saying that he'll now want to ensure the new album is promoted as pro-actively as possible.

In that light, I'd say the chances of an appearance/perfoermance are actually pretty high on the cards...time will tell I guess.

I'm not in the UK but I hope he shows up at the Brit Awards. He needs to show the Brits what's up and what might be coming their way.
I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

confuse Why would it be fake just because a newspaper printed something about the brits a month before it happened? UK press have been talking about this years ceremony since as far back as november 2005, so I wouldn't read too much into that.

Enough with the "comeback" comments. If Prince does attend he'll make us all infinately happy, or ecctatically.

I hope he does perform with the Pussycat Dolls. So he can upstage them, and expose them for the talentless fakes they are. Sheila E. would be a very pleasant surprise.

Snap

What do they mean "singing partner"?? Isn't she more well-known as a drummer/percussionist? They always gotta dumb people down, don't they?

Well, hopefully this is an indication that certain guests will be appearing on the album as well.

I really wish he played there and did a kick ass performance. It´s about time to non-Prince fans to realize what a great musician/songwriter he is.

I think he spent too much time dancing in the past. His recent performances (RRHOF, SNL, etc) made people see that he is more than a pop star. Prince, please bring some more!

I don't think he'll be performing Corvette. Once he retires a hit, he keeps it retired. Is what he did with 1999.

I think that much is a given, if anything it'll be something along the lines of the SNL performance. To be honest, he could stand there and recite the phonebook in a leopard-print g-string, I just want him to perform lol

- I hope so. He never played a decent live version of that great song (LRC), usually put inside medleys or heavily edited. At least, not that I know of his official videos...maybe in the beginning of his career, before Purple Rain...

Why is this in the 'news' section?

It hasn't been confirmed, i don't think. Only a small 'gossip' thing in 'the Sun'.

he might get one of those "special achievement " type awards and that would explain why he'd be performing some older songs , last time he was on the brits he performned Emancipation whch wasnt ever a single after all so maybe this time they want him to perform something that people other than the hardcore fans would recognise possibly ? Any performance of an old song is gonna be good publicity for him and also for the "Ultimate Prince " Cd set , don't forget that 3121 isnt the only "new" Prince album coming out soon .

True, but it has been reported twice now and the mods at NPGMC have yet to deny it (which they usually do for such a big rumor like this). They have only confirmed that he won't be performing with the Pussycat Dolls.

Still, I'm not getting my hopes up razz

Somehow I kinda doubt that he's worried about promoting WB's CD set.....
