best Prince tour opener?

The "Musicology" opener this tour was pretty fonky biggrin "Erotic City" with the car was awesome! and of course ATWIAD was a perfect opening song. But the best opening song choice was "My Name IS Prince" on the ACT 1 & 2 tours.

The only thing that could beat that is an "Eye No" show opener!
It's goin' down y'all.
Like the wall o' Berlin!

I like the Nude tour opener.

No frills, just a soundscape, cue Prince. Play, sing, dance yer pants off.

The Future/Housequake/Sexy Dancer/1999 as opening medley was an awfully good slap in the face.

Fav, show openers...

Purple Rain: Let's Go Crazy... just like the movie

Sign O' The Times: title track with minimal backing, then the band files in
playing the drums

Lovesexy: Erotic City... arrival by T-Bird

Act II: My Name Is.... Mayte!!

The Gold Experience: Endorphinmachine... arrival by conveyer-belt as the

Except when the conveyor-belt malfunctioned.

biggrin

We should also have 'Best Spinal Tap moment'. Whenever I see Prince in that transparent cylinder featured in the '7' video, you have to wonder.

Wouldn't it have been fun if, during the 'Let's Go Crazy' entrance, only his head and shoulders had emerged?

There was a video and Laserdisc release (Lovesexy Live 1 and Lovesexy Live 2) of the Dortmund concert (originally broadcast on televison) from September 1988 which went to retail in 1989.

My favorite was when they opened with ATWIAD and played it in the dark until about half way through then the lights came on and there was Prince and the Revolution in all their glory! jerkoff

1999 tour, opening up with "Controversy". It looked like P had risen up from hell. All u could see was tons of smoke and P's shadow standing on the catwalk with red lights behind him. Similar thing he used later on the Purple Rain tour during "Let's Go Crazy" coming from beneath the floor.

Also on that tour, they opened with "17 Days" played behind the curtain, THEN opened with "Let's Go Crazy".

That was pretty cool. I liked the way he used the silouette effect with the venetian blinds. That whole show was off the chain and it seems to me that a lot of folks sleep on it. It was monster. My Name Is Prince was a cool opener too.

Actually i liked the "hit and run" tour when he came out rocking to "my name is prince!". That was a lot of fun.

It may seem that way cuz many on here didn't see the 1999 tour. If they had, it would definately get more love.
