I am however also slightly taken aback to be reading such rumours and speakings of the truth. She's not Madonna, she doesn't seek publicity. I think her fans should respect her private life, and stop gossiping about stuff that's none of their business. It's one thing for the media and tabloids to invade a celebrity's personal life, they're doing their job that they're paid to do, and in return offer free publicity. Unfortunately sometimes they too cross the line. For fans to do it though is just creepy, and quite disrespectful to Teena, imo. Maybe some of you are telling the truth and have spoken to people in both camps, but is it really your place to come on to a public forum and reveal something like that, something one would imagine Teena would like to have kept private? I don't think so, and if that's not the case then she would most likely openly speak of Rick James as the father. This sort of rumour mongering and gossiping really pisses me off. it's none of our business!. She's mentioned in the liner notes to It Must Be Magic. I hope you're not questioning my fanship. Good to see the discussion is moving slightly back on topic, at least. Hello good people, I actually had the pleasure of talking to the Lady and she's such a joy to talk to...She's very friendly, soft-spoken and ever so shy. Yes, Ms. Tee is very SHY!!!I've heard people who have met her speak of her shyness, but just didn't believe...Well, I'm here to tell you all that when she's not onstage she's an amazing contrast from that larger than life powerhouse performer that we see in concert. Teena have said that she becomes someone else when she's onstage and I witnessed it myself many times. The first thing you noticed about her however is just how tiny she really is...That larger than life phenom call TEENA MARIE transforms into little shy Mary who's more interested in being a mother than making music. I love her when she's Teena Marie, but I also love the little shy Mary side of her just as much because when her daughter, Alia is with her you can see that her music is going to take the back burner. Alia is 13-years-old now, and Teena still holds her hand and you can see that Alia is truly Teena's biggest fan...It's a beautiful thing to see Alia breakaway from her teenage friends and run up to her mother and hug and kiss her on the lips and don't care what her friends think...They have a beautiful mother/daughter relationship...I respect Teena's personal life, but people are going to be interested... Do you ever wondered why celebrity filled magazines like OK and IN TOUCH, etc always out-sell magazines like Time & Newsweek, etc? Inquiring minds want to know about their favorite celebrities' lives. That's the price of being famous...Teena has said that she writes songs about what her friends or people around her have been going through, but MOST of her songs that she writes are about her own personal experiences. She said that she loves to write about some of the "great loves" she's had in her life, so she's putting some of her personal life out there... And, she's also put the father of her child out there, too, and since Teena has identified him I feel its ok for us to talk about him & her daughter. The Peter Butcher in Teena's and Alia's life really exists, and Alia has a very close relationship with her father, too. She has his beautiful cheeks...
Rick James IS NOT her daughter's father...I hope you all will have an opportunity to meet Teena one day and ask her for yourselves. She's used to people asking her, so go for it!!! I don't think it will be good to ask her if Peter's with them...Have a little respect for him and her daughter, you know, but that's really up to you...

Peace & Love The Punisher, No, that's Teena's long-time bass player, Doug Grigsby and very close friend from Philly. She loves him like a brother. Doug also played a little bass on James' albums as well. He used to be heavy set, but he's lost a lot of weight, so some folks who don't know might not recognize him now. | |
