On Rick James' website, there are one or two members of The Stone City Band, a lady that used to work for Mary Jane Productions, Rick's ex pyrotechnic man, and even one of Teena's ex employees that let his presence known on one of the threads where people were downing Teena Marie calling her an unappreciative bitch that owes all her success to Rick.

I don't doubt these people are who they say they are because I have seen them communicate with each other on the site and discuss past experiences that only they would know about. Any one of these people could have contacted Legs by email in private.

wink

Where can I hear all this? I've never doubted who these people are. I just want to hear it from the people that were actually involved and since Rick James(RIP) is no longer with us then that leaves Teena. I waiting to hear it from the horse's mouth, so speak. It does involve the most important person in her life. Every person that knows Teena know that she would die for that child.

I hope the person that started this thread isn't too pissed mad because it has certainly gone in another direction. You know what, Legs, I probably have heard of some of them anyway. It's like that six-degrees of separation thing or whatever its called. Are they disrespectful to Teena? If they are then I really don't want to hear that. You know what I mean, don't you?

They are far from being direspectful towards Teena. As a matter of fact, a lot of us had planned over the summer to meet up in New Orlens to support Teena at the Essence festival so go figure. However, I was unable to make it due to family obligations.

Great! You said that the truth should be known, so tell me what they say is the truth. Yes, I heard she stole the show on Saturday night at the Essence Festival. The crowd was really there for her...Cheering her on! I heard she did a lot of Rick James' songs and I also heard her daughter, Alia performed with her. What did your friends think about Teena & Alia's show?

Can you see the photos that I posted? If so, are they clear? If not, you may have to refresh the page. In the last photos that I posted that was taken by a Teena Marie fan named Ray. Friends/fans of Teena's that were at that show said the man holding Teena's daughter is her father.

Everyone told me that Teena and her daughter turned the Essence Festival out and that Rick would have been proud. He is definitely smiling down from the heavens cloud9. Teena's truly a great preformer and True Funk Soldier. Between her performance at the festival and BET Awards it's truly a testiment of her commiment to the memory of Rick, Stone City Band and The Funk Music Movement.

Legs, That's beautiful...Thank you so much for sharing that. Yes, he's definitely smiling down from the heavens and I know that he's still watching over her, too. If there's anyone that was going to be committed to keeping Rick's memory alive I knew that person would be Teena. There are no words to describe the LOVE they had for each other, but you could certainly FEEL IT whenever you saw them together onstage or just relaxing backstage. Their relationship had taken on so many forms--friends, lovers and at the end of Rick's life they were like brother and sister. I've heard Teena say many times that Rick was her best friend, but they just made the mistake of having a relationship. But, they didn't let a fail relationship destroy their friendship. It seemed to had made their bond stronger. Yes, they would fuss & fight like hell and not speak to each other for days, but that LOVE always brought them back together.

Legs, have you ever seen Teena's daughter? If not, here are some photos & magazine clippings of Teena and Alia together. When I uploading them they didn't turn out as clear as good as I wanted them too, but oh well smile Hopefully, you can see them now.

nod I heard Teena is supposed to be getting her in the biz.

Yes, I've heard that, too, but I've also heard that Teena say that her baby's only 13 and she's not ready to give her to the wolves yet! However, she have been performing with Teena and she was featured on La Dona. Her daughter is a very sassy (lively, spirited) little thang, too, but you can tell that by looking at her. She's very much like Teena. I was at Tee's first show after Rick's death and it was difficult for Teena to get through that show, but her daughter took over. It was so funny because she came out onto the stage and told Teena "It's my turn, and I need you to sing back up for me." Alia did a beautiful rendition of Alicia Key's If I Ain't Got You, but when she did So Crazy In Love by Destiny's Child she had two other young girl to sing that with her on that one.We fell out when she told Teena that she needed her to back up because she didn't want her to get hurt So, Teena just went to the side of the stage and watched them with a big proud smile on her face. That child turned it out! It was most definitely one of the highlights of that show.

Teena will be perfoming at the DAR Contitution Hall in Washington, DC on Saturday, August 6, 2005. Show starts a 8 PM. Tickets price $65.00. Vivian Green is the opening act. Also, on Saturday, August 6, 2005 is the 1 yr anniversary of Rick's death, so I'm sure this show will be very emotional for Teena and all about Rick James! I can't believe that it will be a year on Saturday...(RIP) Rick James

Yep, Legs, Teena will be in the "Chocolate City" on Saturday. She was also on Donnie Simpson show early this week on WHURFM96.3

I just read in this week Jet mag that Teena and Johnny Gill of New Edition brought down the house with their soul-stirring vocals at Magic Johnson's Harlem Renaissance...LA.Style concert that benefits Magic's foundation on July 16, 2005...Wow! Now, that's an interesting combination, eh?

You said it msgucci. A friend of mine gave me a bootleg tape of "Rick James Live" recorded in 1981. Towards the middle Teena comes out and sings "Sucka For Love" then "Square Biz" Whewwwww did she bring the house down!!! She is an amazing vocalist. I don't know if Rick James is the father of Teena's daughter. I CAN however understand why she would not reveal this to the public. I will wait for Teena to say if it is true or not. Peter Butcher( i think that's who she said was, might have only been a name for Rick.) But! if she is his child > Honey the world better be ready for her whatever she makes her career of..Wheeeeew Teena /Ricks good lawd that's some talent in those genes. yes yes

ok... wow. i click on this thread because i'm interested in Teena Marie's music and her public image, only to learn all these things about her private life which I have no absolutely no interest in.

I am however also slightly taken aback to be reading such rumours and speakings of the truth. She's not Madonna, she doesn't seek publicity. I think her fans should respect her private life, and stop gossiping about stuff that's none of their business.

It's one thing for the media and tabloids to invade a celebrity's personal life, they're doing their job that they're paid to do, and in return offer free publicity. Unfortunately sometimes they too cross the line. For fans to do it though is just creepy, and quite disrespectful to Teena, imo.

Maybe some of you are telling the truth and have spoken to people in both camps, but is it really your place to come on to a public forum and reveal something like that, something one would imagine Teena would like to have kept private? I don't think so, and if that's not the case then she would most likely openly speak of Rick James as the father.

This sort of rumour mongering and gossiping really pisses me off. it's none of our business!.

So MadameS you do agree with this possibility? Maybe when the time is right she will come forth with that info. On another site one of fans said that once Teena wrote the name childs father on a piece of paper and handed it to her.
Do you think it was RJ. Cause honestly if she wrote Peter Butcher i would have been like WHO hmmm clueless BUT! on the other hand if she wrote down RJ I would falloff falloff bow

As well as I, Teena Marie is Funk on top of Funk..I respect her music, her life
her spirit. She is true to the Funk and will be bangin out HITS when a lot of this new talent is selling on the 99 cent rack. She stayed true to the game. That's why she is La dona.
