I've got a long term gf who loves Prince too, and it's heavenly.

I don't get why a guy would be jealous of his girl loving P so much. The more my girl loves P, the more I love her for it.

It is very rare, the only other P fan I know of is my brother. Seem to me that there are only a few hard core fans here, would be even harder to find single ones too. biggrin I would love to have freinds who are real P fans, but I have gotten used to this now. I was the prince freak in school and nobody understood it.

i went out with a girl who was as obsessed as i am with Prince. it was great- we went to concerts together, listened to a lot of stuff together, shared our rare bootlegs, then had a very messy break up. now i can't listen to some songs without thinking about her. sometimes i like that, other times it makes me quite blue. we don't speak to each other which makes it worse.
and the best bit was her surname-Wild.

That is the down side to being with someone who likes Prince almost as much as you do. If it does not work out, it is hard to listen to him without thinking of her...

I am a white woman & I did not have many boyfriends growning up that could appreciate Prince. One of my male ex's liked him enough to know a few songs and he did not pick on me for being an obsessed Prince fan (like most guys) so it was not too hard when we broke up because we did not share the obsession just the occassional listen.
Then I met a girl that really loved Prince almost as much as I did... She was my first girlfriend and after the break up , it was very hard to listen or think about Prince for a long time. There's still a few songs that I cannot listen to and that was 4 yrs ago...
My husband is not a fan so he does not get it, Prince is my own special obsession, that's fine with me. I do not like sharing my Prince CD's.

i'm with ya on that. i can't really listen to Strange Relationship now. Automatic and International Lover are kinda hard too. and Get Wild i haven't listened to since.
i'm quite happy now being with someone who doesn't get him at all.

Awww, that's too bad

In college I fell in love with a man that was an intense Prince fan. During our time together, we always had Prince playing in the background. We could leave whole albums playing overnight and not get bored or tired of hearing a track for the 29th time.

He eventually moved away and married someone else. I never saw him again.

But though I was broken hearted, it didn't alter my affection for the Prince songs we shared. I still listen to them, and to be honest, I don't think about him when I do.

Not because our romance wasn't intense. It was. And he'll always be my soul mate.
But I've been listening to Prince since I was 12.

I have plenty other phases of my life associated with Prince albums, not just that one romance. No one will ever steal my personal bonding with Prince music.

So love with a Prince fan doesn't always leave you blue ...

I will absolutely never date someone who doesn't appreciate Prince music.

I agree, though sometimes I wish my husband understood about my obsession enough to realize that if he were to suprise me by playing a Prince song, he would get some awesome lovin' but I have dropped hints and well, you know how well men take hints...
The girl that I was involved with that caused me to be unable to listen to Soul Sancuary and few others also reminded me of Prince... She was short, Italian, she was gay (obviously). But she really dug Prince, she could sing and write songs, she was beautiful and handsome and she reminded me so much of him, That was hard to get over her...

I married one! smile How lucky I am to have a wife who gets equally excited when presale tickets go on sale, who went nuts at the ONA soundcheck, who snuck in a touch of the symbol guitar in front of the stage before an ONA show, who drove 5 hours (one way) to see the Musicology tour, who was excited to see it again in our home town two months later...

Just one of the many reasons I love this woman!
