"Sleep Around" - A Classic???

I mean its got every single type of Prince:

Hook
Vocal range (even a new one I'd never heard before)
Jam session and 1/2
Classic screams (this ones important!)
Fun sound effect (car horn)
Horns o plenty
Sheila E tribute
Erotic City ending
Cool ass backing P vocals
2nd level song just to return to the original song

This song could be a big hit if it was now versus 1997 wink

only thing missing???? (and this is a big one too)
The greatest live performer of our times was is and always will be Prince.

Remember there is only one destination and that place is U
All of it. Everything. Is U.

It would be a classic...if he had changed the last few minutes of the song...as it is right now, it just kinda hangs there feeling like it's going on a little too long. The first 2-3 minutes, though, are ferocious..

I like the song, but I think Prince stretched it out too long. It suffers because he wanted the CD to be exactly 60 minutes long; should've cut the last bit out and it would be remembered more fondly.

Not quite a classic, but whatever the next 'class' down is, it's there.

Sleep Around is one of the better songs on Emancipation, loved it then, love it now. /puts on flowery fashion critic head/ - The word play is both fun and frisky. smile

Seem to be in a minority, but I mostly skip it. I think the tune is excellent, but the production and style are simply terrible.
