I agree with you 100%. My only complaint is "U Got The Look"; is it just me or does it look VERY washed-out? It is noticeably grainy for some reason (I'm watching it on a 57" widescreen TV). The rest of the film looks fantastic given its age...it ends up making "U Got The Look" out of place in my opinion.[/quote]

I honestly think that "U got the Look" is just fine

THIS sounds amazing! I LOVE this movie ( especially FOREVER IN MY LIFE... done with funky Bonnie Boyer ). ALL the songs R fantastic...but he really gets DOWN with FIML. LOVE his expressions and U can see his talent as a a blues/funk artist VERY well. cool He exhibits lots of James Brown here! BUT in his own way... which is the way HE fels the peice. smile Anywho, I'm going 2 get this as soon as I can! The one I taped off cable is mediocre at best...I DO own the vhs VIDEO 2. That is cool. BUT always room 4 improvements & updates. Yeah....
May the BELLS ring 4 U even when ur not in love. hug kisses

You're right it is weird to hear the cursing, which actually makes me happy Prince had nothing to do with the DVD release. He would have cleaned up all the language!!

Its a real pleasure to hear it and see it in such a pristine condition after all these years. I don't think I'll ever play my VHS tape again. (Though I'll never throw it out.)

Try watching his performance in '97 of "Face Down" on the Chris Rock Show. Then U can hear him curse a lot!!! biggrin

Alliance Atlantis owns Odeon films there fore they own the distribution rights for the SOTT film. They are a limited partner in Motion Picture Distribution L.P. MPD distributes Motion Picture titles (including dvd titles) in various parts of the world such as the UK, spain, united states etc. So, maybe, (I don't know,) just maybe it will be released in Europe.

Alliance Atlantis has distribution relationships with most of the major U.S movie studios. They are Canadian distributors for various films like Lord of the Rings, Finding Neverland, The Austin Powers Movies etc.

Maybe US distribution could come from one of those relationships. You never know. Only time will tell.

I actually have a reason to purchase a DVD player now.And maybe a television? smile Always loved the crazed dog look in his eyes during "Housequake" when he says "bullshit",and the backwards-on-the-floor dance backing up from Kat (aftershock!).

It's kinda wierd and cool to see a "coarse language" label on the back of a prince DVD these days.

I got my copy 3 days ago and I've yet to take it out the player. I've watched everyday, especially Housequake. Everyone must get this DVD, and if you don't get it, I will personally revoke everything that you have that's Prince.

For real though, it's a must have, however, I think it's only offered in Canada, which is also good for the U.S. For the rest of the orger's in Euro-land, I hope they get you something soon, because it's truly something special.

Okay, look people. DVD's are a completely unnecessary extravagance - in fact, the only reason I buy 'em is for the extra features. So if a DVD has no extras, why would I buy it when I have the video copy already?

Hmmm, let me think or many reasons why you should:

1) VHS degrades EVERY SINGLE TIME you use it and the tape breaks.
2) This DVD's quality surpasses laserdisc, BETA and VHS
3) 5.1 Dolby Sound and enhanced Dolby 2.0 sound
4) This DVD will last for 100 years or more, your VHS tape will break down in less than 5 if you're good to it.
5) Its only $25, seesh! Talk about cheap!

I think sometimes DVD releases go a little extras crazy anyway. Now, I love extras, but sometimes studios push the 'extras' so hard that somehow the movie on the DVD gets lost. The movie should always be the most important item on the disc.

I'm familiar with that tunnel. sigh I can picture it now:

U.S. Customs agent: Citizenship?

Me: United States.

U.S. Customs agent: Hmmm, you sound Canadian. Let me see your proof of citizenship.

Me: (hands over U.S. passport)

U.S. Customs agent: (looks through passport and hands it back) So what were you doing in Canada?

Me: I bought a DVD.

U.S. Customs agent: Let me see it.

Me: (hands over SOTT DVD)

U.S. Customs agent: You went to Canada just to buy a DVD? A Prince DVD?! That skinny mother... uh, nevermind.

Me: Well, it's not available in the U.S.

U.S. Customs agent: (hands back SOTT DVD) I see. Go pull over there for secondary inspection.

Me: (pulls over and thinks, "Next time I'll just order it from Amazon.ca.")

Its really great news that SOTT is out on DVD. I wonder if there are plans for the Lovesexy Live 1&2 to be put out on DVD also? Hope so while they are equally excellent.
Anyone know?

Americans beware!!! We can't get free shipping because we're outside of Canada.

And it says UTCM and GB are not released yet so that will slow down your order.
