Yeah, these stories are cool, but where is the new album? After such a great tour, I am expecting a full-band album with non-instrumental tracks too. Prince doesn´t release a band album since ´Gold Experience´. I would love to hear an album with this band. |

I just got home from the House of Blues and all I can say is Wow! What a great show! Maceo...Pure Funk!! Great to see Morris Hayes on keyboards too! Then, about 3/4 of the way through the show...a wonderful surprise!...first Candy Dulfer, then one by one Prince's band took the stage...and then yes, Prince was there! What can I say? I was front row center and he looked so happy and relaxed...and so fine (as usual!)...and (as usual) it was pure joy to experience! He sang "Musicology" and then just stayed on stage while everyone just jammed on various improvs...he just really got into the funk like the rest of us! Then after just a few minutes, he and the band left the stage and Maceo's band took over where they left off! It was, as Maceo had promised us earlier, "a night to remember". The whole show lasted at least 3 hours...maybe longer...Maceo and his band were still jamming when I left! My feet were tired and I had an hour to drive home, but (as usual) it was worth it! Okay, I gotta set the record straight... He doesn't have a weave or anything like that! And it's definately not any Dirty Mind era curl!! LOL Brutha must've been hittin the bar too much who said that! LOL He's got that poofy-fro workin like he's had for the past 8 months or so. Looks like he's gonna keep it natural for a while! And the band didn't intro with Family Name at all, it was Musicology from the very beginning cuz I immediately recognized it. Didn't hear anyone say "Mirror, Mirror" too, but maybe I missed it. (The crowd was screaming so loud how could anyone have heard a chant!) Noone mentioned that after Prince straight threw the mic into the crowd, he started walking off stage and knocked over a mic stand like, "we just wrecked SHIT!". It was so badass!!! LA is DEFINATELY on a "High Funk Alert" for the next few weeks it looks like!! Bumpsquad, you better check your email often cuz you never know when that man may get an itch and want to play in this 70 degree weather!!! LOL | |
