When did Sheila start?

This might be stupid, but when did Sheila start playing with Prince? What album was her first?

First Prince thing I remember her on was Erotic City in '84 (right around the same time as Glamorous Life came out), though she was playing in Lionel Ritchie's band before Prince, and you can see her in some old Lionel videos.

I think Erotic City is the first released Prince thing (as B-side to Let's Go Crazy) with Sheila on it; her album The Glamorous Life came shortly thereafter.

I remember reading a long time ago that Prince asked her to "work on the Purple Rain movie score" although I have never found a credit for her. But I recall if you watch the movie, there is a lot of incidental background music with drums and percussion and I always assumed that Sheila was involved with that but I can't say for sure.

Prior to working with P, Sheila worked with many famous artists like George Duke, Diana Ross, Patti Labelle, as well as Lionel.

She was in a band her father had. And also did a stint as a drummer with The band Tony,Tone,Toni. Rafeal still has a crush on her... Smile.

Before Prince she also played on an album from Narada Michael Walden.

In the later years she's been a studio musician on most albums produced by Babyface. (including his own)

I was surprised to hear her say, at the last celly,
that they actually met in the late 70's in cali.

She said that Prince would go to watch her and her
fathers band play salsa/latin music.
Thanks for the laughs, arguments and overall enjoyment for the last umpteen years. It's time for me to retire from Prince.org and engage in the real world...lol. Above all, I appreciated the talent Prince. You were one of a kind.

She also played on albums by Con Funk Shun,Stacey Lattisaw,Diana Ross and many other artists in the early 80s.

Also,in the mid-70s,she recorded two albums with her father that are now very easy to find on CD...
