Seriously, I was going to say the same thing that Laura said about BM complaining that P took all the girls shopping and did nothing for him.

They were such good friends that BM don't even remember the Atlanta Concert. One would think that he would remember the last concert his good friend Prince ever performed and what happened after that concert.

Uh-oh, does this mean that you are trying to get BM to answer questions here on the org too? Is that why you are always holding up for him and the Rev?

oooh same thing Laura said... that ain't good.

All the man is saying that Prince didn't go to the same lengths of social activities

He saw Prince as a big brother. Do you know little brothers/younger brothers like to tag along with their big brothers, go shopping (guess what men do go shopping together)

So Laura pushing this angle is very sexist and ignorant touched with her homophobia

.

Again PennyPurple, you are choosing to edit what he said. Wrong. He didn't say he did not remember the show. Being close has nothing to do with it, he's not a robot.

.

I was a big 80s rap fan, went to my first rap concert Fresh Fest II Run DMC LL Cool J Beastie Boys Fat Boys and Whoodini... don't remember it. It was a great night, so caught up in the happening. Girl giving a dude a blow job while everyone was standing up, and one of the entertainers throwing their towel out to the crowd outside... Doesn't mean I'm not a huge fan. It all went in a flash.

.

Why would he need to remember the Atlanta concert? Did he know that was going to be the last concert Prince performed? Yall act like the Atlanta show God came down to heal folk

.

Have you ever sat at a desk to take a test on stuff you know, and not remember the answers?

you all still got our Cat interview shut down, we ain't happy. We put a lot of time/hope into that

And you all seemed to turn up the attack, what did you all think was going to happen?

.

I just choose not to live in a 'nit picky fault finding mentality' it ain't good and it creates more anti-social energy

Look, people put things out there for the entire world to see, and then when something is said here about the interviews or their comments you guys go into battle mode. This is a discussion board. When you all put the Q & A up for Cat, I didn't participate because you all limit us to what we can and can not say. We aren't allowed to ask them about the things THEY say? That's BS. So I didn't participate. If you want a Q & A then let us ask the REAL questions instead of pussy footing around. You even said yourself that Cat has put it out there about one of her kids being P's. If she doesn't want anybody talking about it, then don't put the shit out there.

Now this thread is about BM and the interview he just did. We all have our perspective and our opinions, we don't have to all gel together. But I guarantee if I was at P's last concert, it would be something that I remembered. Cee-lo went to one of his concerts in Atlanta and he still remembers.

He saw P as a big brother? or a big sister? His words...not mine.

If we all can't discuss anything on this forum, then we all might as well just quit and let this place die.

And as far as agreeing with Laura on this shopping deal, I do. It has been said here on the forum many times what BM said, and it has been discussed before, this isn't the first time BM has been discussed. Sheesh.

Exactly Thank you. What sort of grown man makes comments like that it has nothing to do with anyone being sensitive but to do with Mark coming off like he is five years old.

I doubt he went to the concert in Atlanta. People raved about that show yet he cannot remember. It is just a why to throw shade which is mind boggling to me.

You realize that Brown is being homophobic with his comments emphasizing that he was hanging out at Soellmam and not Morehouse. He protest a little too much and now we know why he did not get to speak in the past.

That is so ignorant. Spelman is an all female college, Morehouse an all male college

how is that homophobic? All he is saying he was chilling with the ladies

You protest way too much

It is hompphobic because Mark is the one bringing it up and emphasing that he was at the women's school and not the men's school. Did anyone ask him about that? Why go there at all? It is like he is bringing it to let everybody know he is not gay and the sister comment about Prince was a never homphobic snarky comment.

He protest a little too much. He always comes off as being snarky, opportunistic, bigheaded, and maybe a little slow. I say let him keep talking it as it gets worst and worst everytime he speaks.

simple. You all want to make it out as him saying Prince was a girl? Seriously?

All these folks (girlfriends, NPG, Revolution) think he was talented, but they are all also self serving...but at least they can self-serve without diminishing the last 25 years of his work/life.

As for Prince taking hits, he still is. But yes, I looked back. You want me to make an argument completely uninformed?? I think you have defended Prince at times but never to the degree you defend these guys.

Why didnt you post the two other paragraphs?

Really dude? Who was the Brother and who was the Sister in your relationship? confused Here are some snippets. I can't get the link option to work, so just copy and paste it in your browser.

Me and Prince had a very unique relationship with each other. We fought like brothers and sisters. (Laughs) Literally, I mean, we would get into it like two brothers. You would think we were brothers. When you have that kind of relationship with somebody and then, all of a sudden, they’re gone and you don’t even know why, it hurts. And It hurt bad.

ABC: The last show Prince performed was here in Atlanta. What do you remember most about it?

BrownMark: I don't remember much. I don't know if it’s my age or my brain just being cluttered, but I do not remember much. I loved to come to Atlanta. I loved it when we would come here because I had so many friends over at Spellman. Notice I didn't say Morehouse. (Laughs) I had a lot of friends over at Spellman and would have a blast. I don’t remember too much about the show other than it was funky like all of them. My memory just doesn’t serve me well. (Laughs)

ABC: What do you like to do with your downtime?

BrownMark: I really wish I had downtime. (Laughs) I'm currently working on my own album. I’ll be releasing a BrownMark Nation record. I haven't released one in 5 years maybe. I'm excited about releasing a new record. It’s going to be a funk record — funk, pop, dance, R&B/whatever. It's a type of record that I have not done before so I'm excited to put that out.

I’m painstakingly putting my group, Mazarati, back together. Unfortunately, I can't put the whole group together but I got most of them back so I'm going to join forces with that group and we're going to take it on the road.

When I'm not on the road, I'm in the recording studio. Thats all I do. I have a huge song library that I haven't released yet which it but that's what I do. I just write music. I create new music and sounds and just catalog — put them in a library and save them for when I'm ready to use my past. I don't play sports or anything. I grab my guitar, go in the studio and play.

I'm just so tired of BrownMark. He's always has to slip some smart a** comments in his interviews.

purplerabbithole said:

There is another new interview out there where he says that Prince was who made him who he was and stated that Prince "laughed, smiled, cried, got angry, fussed and fought" like anyone of us. (that part is undeniably true.)

But were they really that close? According to Leeds, many people who were interviewed for the Alex Hahn book were avoided by Prince thereafter. Wasn't Mark in that book?

I really don't know what to think about Mark Brown or many of Prince's associates to be honest (of all eras).... I can't tell if he is sincerely mourning this loss or trying to sound generous about Prince so that he can further his own career path in a way that almost reminds me of Eve Harrington from All about Eve (I wish he would take the Andre Cymone approach to music..a sound that is not particularly similar to Prince's) . Maybe, this is just selfishness on a fan's part but it feels kind of rotten that Mark's rebirth is the result of the P's death.

Plus, how much can he really be a fan/brother/sister/whatever if he can't remember the wonderful and very intimate Piano and Microphone performance? It seems like the only time musicians ( who came up around the same time as Prince or were around 20 years) remember P's music is if they are involved directly in it themselves. (Even Michael Bland was honest enough to admit that years ago on this very site; although I imagine P's death made him listen to a bit ore)

At least Morris Day posts various clips of P on his facebook page that do not include himself in them. And those two did fight like brothers. Also, he stated implicitly on facebook that Prince was underrated even by himself. All this SOB's are opportunists to some extend (hell, Prince was too), but pretending to mourning while quietly celebrating rubs me the wrong way and at times, I get that vibe with Mark above others.

It would be obvious to anyone with a few brain cells to understand he meant they fought like siblings/family.

It would be obivous to anyone with milions of brain cells that these are dudes not chicks.

I'm just so tired of BrownMark. He's always has to slip some smart a** comments in his interviews.

You don't do too bad yourself.

You're like a Harry Potter dementor with your negativity, back biting and sucking life out of threads.

And yet here you are on my thread. lol

The question to Mark was "How did you learn of Prince's death?"

Why didnt you post the two other paragraphs?

Is it because he speaks about how devastating it was for him?

There are more then the 2 paragraphs you are speaking of. and I didn't post those either. I gave the link, anybody can go look for themselves. It's not like I'm hiding anything.

called out one?

you're supposed to walk in the truth, not malice slander envy lies darkness

just because you say it in the privacy of cyberspace doesn't mean God doesn't see it boxed

And Jesus was saying That which proceeds out of the man, that is what defiles the man
For from within out of the heart proceeds... foolishness.
