Just watched the Oprah interview again and his love for her is quite obvious. All those saying that Mayte cheated on him as well, after he started going around with that dancer and Mani, and left her in Spain, hence the burning of her stuff, and that she chose to ommit it from her book... surely if that were true something would come out. Plus, Prince can do it but she can't? How does that work?

Sigh, Sheila E's book came out back 2014 and she has been touring all along. So have many musicians that worked with him.

Mayte has a right to tell her story but it should be more about her and she is not telling on herself is she. I also think he burned her stuff because she had an affair but I do not think there is anything wrong with it since he was running around however, womanizers do not see it that way.

Remember how Carmen said he flipped out on her because he thought she was seeing someone else. He had a jelous streak a mile wide.

I love Apple's. Even though she wasn't on the scene long. The film, A6 album etc is an iconic era of the purple jigsaw. But let's not forget, Mayte isn't just an ex wife. She was an integral part of the band for 11 years. The whole look, creative direction, and releasing music too. That alone should enshrine her into the purple family for life. She has every right to speak of him, just as Apple's, Sheila, Wendy etc speak of him in interviews. Mani on the other hand, she was an ex wife. Period. She's married with kids. Shouldn't even be commenting in my opinion.

Thank you cuz I didn't see that as Mayte throwing shade. I saw it as her giving props/respect to Apples as an OG.

Apples took it wrong and I guess thought Mayte was calling her old, which she is she's older than me...and I think she felt slighted like she was whatever for a breif time with P, which she as...Apples is the one who years ago clarified that they were only platonic when fans would'e loved to beleive they had been more.

Yes, it's a tabloid, but she is 100% responsible for that crap being put out there. She is experienced enough to know they would pick bad sensational headlines and obviously she weighed both sides and decided that "her story" was worth more to her than "the love of her life's" privacy, reputation, and legacy. On a side note, a few of the photos prince took with mayte are almost identical to ones he took with andy allo, remember the one were people were saying it was an engagement photo of prince and andy, and the one of her with the camera.

I agree. I think whichever year she visited PP was before her ever-so apparent 'changes'. Also...making out with someone requires very little. She's an old friend and he probably figured- why not? She can die happy knowing she FINALLY got a song written for her. She got lucky, because it was based on that funny 'this could be us' meme. She almost didn't get one.
