Just imagine and just for fun: what if the new deal allowed a "Best of Paisley Park" compilation?

We now now that with few exception the whole Pailey Park catalogue and its masters went back to P in 1994 when WB shut the label down.

Some subsidiaries of WB such as Rhino of WB France have made a habit of rereleasing obscure funk acts albums or compilations from WB's past catalogue.

What if, in order maybe to support an eventual rerelease of some Paisley Park albums remasters (P's side-projects, mostly), WB and P eventually agreed on a PP compilation (like, not next year, but eventually)?

What could the tracklist be? I bet the singles chosen would be P songs as much as possible (to capitalize on his name and allow royalties).

It would be awesome if Prince re-issued all the albums that came out through Paisley Park. The ones I would like 2 buy are those by The Family, Mazarati, Jill Jones & Sheila E. I also wish Warner Bros would put out Vanity 6, Apollonia 6, The Time & Sheila E CD's. It cud happen now that Prince has re-signed with WB. Fingers crossed!

I don't believe for a second that P would have accepted a reversal of masters deal that wouldn't have included those records.

I would rather have the remasters for all of these. He can do small pressings so the die hards will buy them up

I'm quite sure it'll happen for most of them... eventually. At least rerelease or availability on digital platforms if not proper remasters.

I'm also looking forward to the moment when George Clinton and possibly some others will reclaim their masters from Prince and write "slave" on their cheeks lol

2 things:

I once made my own similar "box set" compilation.... I called it, 1-800-OLD-FUNK.

And, I would take all the Prince tracks out to make room for more associated artist tracks.

wink

Not dead, not in prison, still funkin'...
