(Jesse's email response to Lauren's email)

Hello Lauren,

May I ask you: "Who are you???? An employee at a Epic Records? www.JesseJohnson.com is some what who I am.

Lets see, who am I? I written a few "HIT SONGS", I'm Grammy nominated recording artist/producer, I've been instrumental in selling millions of albums, and by the way; "I'm the guy that help to put this Michael & D'Angelo project together.

Unbeknownst to me, I wasn't aware that I was an employee (underling) of yours, nor was I aware that you possessed complete control over what I can and cannot say (I Thought Slavery Was Abolished),
but I guess indentured servitude is the tradition of the majors labels for which you serve and represent. Please send me a company memo regarding guidelines to your company's civil rights laws, or better yet how they pertain to me. I can already tell that you, LAUREN as an agent for EPIC RECORDS, could care less about us minions, but I did record and play all the guitars on this track. (Right, I know, as if that matters to you or yours!)

Have a great day Lauren.

Respectfully,

Jesse Johnson (aka: Mr. NoOne or Nobody depending on the situation. (I am ok with either

Obviously it's not difficult to find out who I am since you were able to track me down. My job is to put out accurate information to the public regarding projects on Epic Records. Unfortunately, you are putting out false information to the public regarding the new Michael Jackson album Xscape. I'm sure it wasn't your intention to mislead the public on who was on the album however, that's why my job exists, to accurately report to the public.
Thanks for your understanding.

What I Wrote Is 100% Accurate!

I didn't track you down, your email was forwarded to me by persons you sent it to inquiring about who am I!

As far as I'm concern, we did finish the song titled "Hot Fun In The Summertime" (Sly & The Family Stones's) for the release. Whether it makes your release is not my concern. What I wrote is 100% accurate and factual non the less.

Respectfully,

Jesse Johnson

We always heard stories about how he was bit of a hothead. His social media accounts certainly reflect that. Endles drama. I clicked through some of it and read the same "it's not me, it's them" mindset over multiple situations. Jesse clearly has psych probs. "Here is why I quit The Time". "What? I love The Time we are all like brothers." biggrin

Even though I'm a Jesse fan you are spot on. I read this mess on FB yesterday.
He went in on the lady from Epic then later apologized saying he's about peace
and love. eek
Seems like Jesse puts stuff out there especially 07/Time business when he probably
shouldn't then wants to play victim. Well Jesse how about less drama and more good
music. That's how you silence the critics.
Don't laugh at my funk

Since Jesse loves his cosmic talk Imma have to break it down so he can relate.

He has become an embarassment to Gems everywhere including Prince, Jimmy Jam, and myself. Therefore we are forced to suspend him from the Gemini collective indefinitely. lol

Look, all of us Gems enjoy being a bit odd and thinking outside the box from time to time because it keeps things interesting but Jesse has gone above and beyond in demonstrating flakiness that we can no longer condone.

He's broken the cardinal Gemini rule by becoming semi-articulate and losing his ability to use finesse....this cannot be tolerated.

Out he goes! hammer

Hmm, it's funny I seem to be the only one taking Jesse's side here. I certainly can understand being upset that the song you worked on is not being included on probably the world's biggest artist's album after early press reports said it was going to be. Then to add insult to injury a clueless PR person says she doesn't even know who you are. If she was a true professional she would have handled the correction in house, instead of publicly. Remember now just because you have a title after your name doesn't necessarily mean you earned it or you have the competence to do the job most effectively.

Haven't any of you been mistreated, overlooked, passed over on your nine to five jobs? Have some empathy folks.

Plus like most things in hollyweird I bet there are things going on behind the scenes we don't even know about.

press reports from late March, early April gave tracklists like this below. Just google "Xscape Hot Fun In The Summertime" and you'll see reports all over the web and they're not from Jesse or Questlove.

Xscape‘ is Michael Jackson‘s upcoming posthumous album that will consist of previously unreleased songs. The release date for the project has been scheduled for May 13th and it will be available for pre-order on April 1st on iTunes.

The eight-song effort reportedly includes an updated version of ‘Slave To The Rhythm’ which was leaked a while ago. Stay tuned for the song titles, official download link, and more information.

Tracklist Added 4.13.14

  1. Love Never Felt So Good
  2. Chicago
  3. Lovin’ You
  4. A Place With No Name
  5. Slave to the Rhythm
  6. Do You Know Where Your Children Are
  7. Blue Gangster
  8. Xscape
  9. Hot Fun In The Summertime f. Mary J. Blige, D’Angelo [Deluxe]
  10. Music Video [Deluxe]
  11. EPK [Deluxe]

hey, this kinda stuff happens everyday.Artists make guest appearances on other artists' albums and sometimes the song gets rejected from the final tracklist. It's nothing for Jesse to whine about. And who knows, the song may surface on a future album.

Well, Jesse has since deleted the post, but he did threaten to LEAK THE TRACK online. boxed I still can't believe he said that but he did. He threatened to LEAK THE TRACK as payback because the song wasn't accepted. Somebody said that wasn't right and then he went off, in another epic rant against that guy. Eventually he settled down but said that since he was the guy who got D'Angelo and Mary on the song, and put his time into working on it he HAD A RIGHT to do whatever he pleased with it. Including leak it. How disrepectful of MJ, RIP, was that? Who gave this knucklehead a copy of MJ's unfinished demos? Shame on everybody involved.

I see a mention of the song on some blogs but not on any official listing.

I don't think the PR lady made any public gaffe. It sounds like she was trying to find out who he was because of the drama and he got miffed that she didn't know him.

Before sending his letter to EPIC, he shoula used spell check. lol
Prince did an interview with a woman at Record World. They talked about whatever, then he asked her: "Does your pubic hair go up to your navel?" At that moment, we thought maybe we shouldn't encourage him to do interviews.
