NPG OR 3RD EYE GIRL

For me it has to be the New Power Generation

I love funk music and I just feel that horns, trumpets, keyboards etc are far more funky than heavy guitars.

Dont get me wrong I like Prince doing his guitar work but after attending last night's gig the long segments of heavy guitars worn me down a bit and become a bit boring.

BRING BACK THE HORNS !!!

.

ps. Has anyone got hold of the recent track BIG CITY I think it was that was previewed recently?

I loved the sound of that

NPG has released tons of great material, esp 1991-1995.

I still havent heard 1 single song by 3EG that I like..

Which NPG?

Levi&Rosey&Tommy&Sonny&Michae&TheGameBoysl?

Tommy&Sonny&Michael&Mr.Hayes?

The random generic NPG bands after?

I'd take Gold Experience NPG over 3rdEyeGirl, and 3rdEyeGirl over any of the rest..... and I don't even like ANY of the 3rdEyeGirl music!

If it's between the current NPG and 3rd Eye Girl, I prefer 3rd Eye Girl.

I like the NPG band from 2006- present. Straight rock music is fine, but too much of it gives me a headache, lol besides it seems to be more for a younger generation. I can put up with funk rock and blues rock does much better because of the authentic sounds of it, and both doesn't feel age-specific, whereas straight rock is.

it depends. the current NPG is like a watered down cover band. the NPG from 1993-95 was a force to be reckoned with. 3rdEyeGirl is awesome from what i've seen and heard tho and it's a breath of fresh air.

However, make a trimmed down NPG (drums, bass, guitar, keyboards, trumpet, sax, no backup singers) and play material spanning his career (more rarities, less played/familiar stuff, newer stuff) then sure. until then, 3rdEyeGirl.

There is no topping the NPG versions from 90-96 so I will take them all the way. However I would take 3rdeyegirl over the other NPG versions though. I just wish they would play more of there own material instead of the old stuff. Hopefully they will once the album drops.

I think its because I am a soul and funk lover anyway so I will always prefer that type of sound of NPG

3rd Eye Girl. The current NPG sounds a bit too Vegas for my liking. Keep it raw, Prince.

3rd Eye has yet to do anything that's interesting to me.

Both the Andy Allo and Live Warfield albums has wonderfully performed and arranged music. I don't have no problem with 3rd Eye Girl, as they seem pretty fun live. Although it's obviously no 3rd Eye Girl combination of musicians that created these two wonderfully performed albums.

Tommy, Sonny, Michael and Mr Hayes for me can not be beaten.

Pretty much loved everything they did.

3rdEye Girl I really like the concept and the live stuff I have seen / heard but so far I have not liked anything put down in the studio.

You've lost your bloody mind!

Both are equally good, both different bands for different sets.

NPG performed some of the same songs 3rdeyegirl is doing with Prince now, minus the new 3rdeyegirl tracks, so quite frankly, he's been keeping it raw with the NPG for some time now.

Depends on my mood. From the live shows 3EG have put on recently I definitely love their sound and will probably like the album, but I'm more anxiously awaiting the NPG album to be honest because his NPG work tends to be more diverse and I loved the Big City teaser.

Change it one more time..

To be honest, I don't even care anymore.

Sonny + Mike B. + Levi trumps anything in my book.

Now the NPG when Sonny T and Michael Bland were in it...

Pretty much my dream touring line-up would be Prince doing a rock trio with those two.
