Liv just tweeted (and on Facebook) "the unexpected" bonus. Stay tuned.

What could that mean I wonder?

I thought the track 'fanfare' by Roy Agee was the bonus track on the cd. I could be wrong though. Cool if she has another bonus track to offer, if that's what it is.

Downloaded this over the weekend and I love it. Just a whole different vibe. Her perfomance on Jimmy Fallon was killer. I would recommend this CD to anyone who is tired of the same ole thing. It covers a lot of genres and it just "feels" good to listen to because of its organic nature. Her video is getting some play on VH-1 Soul so hopefully more people will be checking her out.

Love the album. 'Your Show' is a sultry, sexy track, that has a 'Let's take our time' feel to it. Also, it reminds me of a Jill Scott vibe. Loving the music to 'Fly'- smooth and jazzy.

Save Me is the free bonus track Liv has released today.

You can get it via her Twitter link to Twitmusic but this can be bypassed with Firefox DH if you don't want to subscribe to Twitmusic.

Was it higher bitrate if you did the Twitmusic thing properly? I just didn't like the fact that it could read, post etc to your twitter feed.

I'm quite sure Prince produced and arranged alot more on this album than he takes credit for. Just as what I thought about the Andy Allo album. The arrangement and production is just too damn good to not have been made by a top producer like Prince.

Why not ask Liv directly on Facebook?

I would not expect to get the correct answer, and I respect that also, cause that would be their decision. I don't know her, so I don't need honest answers. This is just me speculating, as probably many others also are. I'm not saying he pulled all the strings. But I'm quite sure as the executive producer he was, he did have more than what the "normal executive producer" usually does.

When a big name like Prince is involved, it draws too much attention from how great Liv Warfield is. People would talk more about Prince involvement. It's not like Timbaland and Timberlake. Timberlake is a bigger star than Timbaland, even though Timbaland has had more success sales wise.

It's perfectly normal to not show all credits on some records. As long as artists involved are having some sort of agreement, names are erased all the time. Prince has been known for protecting secrets before. Why not now?

This album is hands down Prince's best associate release. I was hoping that Prince played and wrote alot of the music because its the best of his career but I had my doubts that it was him. After reading the credits I see it was not him but thats ok. I wish he would take this route with other associates. This album is damn good!! and it makes me think how good some of his others could have been if he didnt try to do everything and let others in to make the cd. GREAT job!!

Is their anyway to get it without a twitter account. I am not signing up for that.

I heard a vocal version of Prince dong the Unexpected today. Liv really delivered on that one!! I usually like his versions better than the associates version but man she smokes on that song and his just doesn't have the vocal chops like hers does. She owned that song!! I hope she does that on Arsenio wednesday night!!

Can't say who (sorry but confidentiality is a big thing if u wanna survive in the Prince world) but someone who was around there during the recording of Superconductor told me that even though they weren't absolutely sure, they strongly believe that Andy's writing credits are legit: from what I understood, she was definitely more involved in the whole process than just a puppet doing what she was told to, like many past protégés. I tend to believe that, too: Andy has proven herself as a songwriter, she just doesn't need Prince for that and there would have been little point for her giving up her own songs in favor of Prince's, particularly since it was clear from the beginning that it would be a low profile indy record with little perspective of huge profits. + the song's melodies and lyrics don't so much have Prince's staple IMHO, the arrangements definitely do but it's just like GCS 2000: even though the songs SOUND 100% like Prince, you can feel that the compositions themselves are not by him.

As for Liv I haven't heard anything but the single yet and the production is just, well... normal. I mean good but just as good as any other professional musician's album. If you listen to the dozens of albums produced by Prince ex-protégés or bandmembers without being involved it's clear that professional musicians are just that: professionals. They don't need Prince to have a well produced record. As early as 1984 Sheila proved with Too Sexy (the b-side) that she could sound just as good as Prince. That's just an example but it says it all if u ask me. Now of course it's always hard to know for sure when it comes to Prince's level of involvement and there are still a few grey areas such as how involved Carmen and Bria were in their composing process. Same with Tamar even though she reportedly admitted in private that Prince gave her writing credits and royalties and that she hadn't written a single song on M&H. It's likely that one day people will talk and we'll know all the details, the same way we know most of what happened in the first 15 years of P's career. Patience...

Also, that album by Liv won't sell if u ask me. Not because it's bad but because it's a low profile indie record in a world that's dominated by majors shit. She'll find her audience and she'll probably make decent money by touring, but album sales are hardly anything more than symbolic for indie artists nowadays. See how even fDeluxe had to resort to crowdfunding in order to produce a second album... And the Original 7ven were quite clear in interviews with the fact that they didn't make a penny with Condensate either.

Databank--

What you said about Superconductor is pretty much spot on:

"even though the songs SOUND 100% like Prince, you can feel that the compositions themselves are not by him."

If your source supports the idea that the songs are basically hers, I can believe that--that still leaves open the idea that might have been pretty involved in the actual realization of those songs in the studio (and that might have involved some lyrical or other tweaking).

And however it shakes out, I'll say again that I really like the album.

Haven't done Liv's yet... or even the definitely Prince-involved tracks. I will... sometime.

When eye saw Andy perform in Hollywood last year. She said she wrote the majority of the songs on "SuperConductor".... Eye had my doubts especially on the song "When Stars Collide". She gave the story on how she came up with it! eek

Liv was so HOT on Letterman last nite, it was almost as good as seeing her and the NPG Horns in person. Almost. You could tell Dave was impressed biggrin

Is anyone lucky enough to be going to see Liv tomorrow nite @ BBKings?
