World Premier of Shelby J's "North Carolina" single: produced by Prince

Tune in this THURSDAY DEC. 6th to WNNA 90.1 FM from 12-2pm (EST) for the "SHELBY J. TAKEOVA ..PART 2!!!" We will be BROADCASTING WORLDWIDE BABY!!!

My PLAYLIST will be FIRE & U will here AWESOME SONGS that other stations WON'T or DON'T Play Anymore ♥ YEP!! What's up wit da same 12 SONGS being recycled on these stations ALL Day Er'DAY?? I'm all for being "green".....

Look forward to.....An Interview with singer/songwriter Andy Allo as she talks about her new album "SUPERCONDUCTOR", working with Prince & the NPG, & her plans for the future. I will also have a Holiday "Shelby J's Favorite Thangz" call in giveaway, & Much Much MORE!!!

With Prince producing for 3 of his closest musical associates (Larry Graham's "Raise Up", Andy Allo's "Superconductor" and Shelby J's next record), it would be cool for Prince to resume his career as a producer. Especially this late in his career. It is arguable that, his best stuff this year has came from his contributions to the work of his friends. I would love for him to do some stuff with D'Angelo or work with a rock band.

Cool. I'm going to try to catch the show and happy she has an album coming out
I'm sure with Anthony on any of her songs combined with her own talent, that it will be an album worth checking out. Shelby and Anthony have that natural, Aretha, Nina Simone, Bill Withers' type of soul that you can't buy at the candy
store.

Yeah, she writes like she sings! Subtlety thrown out the window... I suppose it had 2 happen... A Shelby single produced by Prince...

i think it was supposed to happen 2 years ago, but then andy allo happened and prince

pushed the shelby project to the back burner.

wasn't this song mentioned a long time ago? i think i even heard it somewhere. did she

sing it live yet? during one of prince's shows? i know i've heard it before, i'm sure.

anywho.

here's to hoping that prince is actually recording some shit for himself too inbetween all

these sessions with/for others. i want that new prince album already, damn.

ah, yes, here's what princevault has on the song:

North Carolina is an unreleased track recorded in the studio in late 2010 during recording sessions for Shelby J.'s first solo album (announced as Just Shelby in March, 2012, and at that time planned for release in Autumn, 2012), most likely at Paisley Park Studios, Chanhassen, MN, USA (although this is unconfirmed). Shelby J. was born and raised in Greensboro, North Carolina, and likely wrote the song's lyrics. Additional recording with fellow North Carolina nativeAnthony Hamilton took place in 2011. Prior to its studio recording, however, the song was performed during a live performance session by Prince and his band, including Shelby J. on lead vocals, for French radio station RTL on 12 October, 2009 (matinee), but the song was not broadcast. The song had also been performed in shows months earlier.

Prince has finally christened Shelby & allowed her to unveil The "MasterPiece" "North Carolina". A song I been waiting 4 4ever...Shelby & Anthony we're both background singers for D'angelo.....

eye will ALWAYS think of prince like a "ACT OF GOD"! N another realm. eye mean of all people who might of been aliens or angels.if found out that prince wasn't of this earth, eye would not have been that surprised. R.I.P. prince

Personally, I prefer her with him over Prince any day because to my ears their voices just blend better.

The Black Gypsy cd is still my favorite Shelby project although it always gets overlooked around here, lol

Yes, Anthony has that bluesy, soul sound, the kind where you can feel the soul of the song, like Bill Withers and Al Green. I bet Anthony would sound good singing a cover of Bill Wither's track 'Grandma's Hands' or 'Who is He and What is He to You' or Al's ' Love & Happiness'

I'm going to try to tune in at the time the show airs, if it doesn't get too busy at work at the time.

So far Shelby opened with 'When Stars Collide' from Andy's album. My favorite song on the album. Kind of like the type of song of the summer you listen to while driving and leaning back. Was just listening to it before I turned Shelby's station on.

She just played a track from Maceo, didn't hear who she said the singer was in it, but kind of sounded like Shelby. Like the horns. headbang

I missed the first 20 or so minuts of the show. I forgot about it until I saw Shelby's post on FB. I don't know. lol
