here is a question i have and the more prince is doing this live now the more i'm curious about this question : what prince song would u like 2 see them cover and totally do it better than he does? lol

man, he has such an amazing body of music that it's sad to see him constrict it down to the basics. he's too talented for the lineup he's doing. estelle 81

Higher than Michael Jackson?

Off The Wall wasn't Michael Jackson's debut album lol

For Jesse it may have been the highest charting debut.

Prince is a light skinned brotha. Prince looks like my cousins. lol His mom looks like many black people from Louisiana. My family is originally from there also. Black people come in all shades. Some of us may look racially ambiguous but we are still black.

His was not the gospel truth. he thinks the world revolves around him. sorry to say it doesnt. he is still whinning after 30yrs and if was so big headed he could have made something of him but he couldnt. u left prince 30yrs back and u r still blaming him for ur career flame out.

prince was responsible for the reunion in 1990 and if he was scared why would be make it possible?

The time werent really big and even alaxender oniel was doing much better then them alone he was massive in uk too.

jam and lewis were supporting most of the time guys thru the yrs and if they didnt they would have been toast long time back.

I know of no single person who whines about thier boss after leaving him 30yrs back

so its quite a fall from grace just selling a measly 5k what happened to his fanbase where did they disappear to not only that his release in the mid 1990s didnt chart either so his career was gone b4 it started. the only song i have heard of his is carazy thats all.

what is not true? alaxender o'niel was bigger?

i highly doubt he was the biggest debut for r&b how many people have heard of jesse outside of prince fanbase almost no one

Jesse may have had the highest charting debut for a solo r&b act not biggest selling. Anyway.

You claim that Alex O Neal was bigger. Not out of the box. Alex actually only had two gold albums.

Hearsay and All True Man. Now i am comparing Alex to Jesse and i'm not even talking bout the Time.

Alex didn't even have a top ten hit off his first album. Not one. It was a good album mind you but i'm just going off your claim that he was so much bigger than the Time. Alex wasn't even bigger than Jesse out of the box. lol Jesse had 3 top 10 singles off his debut album. Jesse's first two albums were Gold and i'm not so sure that his debut didn't reach platinum sales. The Time

weren't big. Really? Maybe not across the board but i betcha most every young black in households across america had their first 3 albums. They were even more popular after the chaos

and the Purple Rain movie. It's funny how you and others wanna give Prince all the credit

for the Time's success but would we even have heard of Alexander O'Neal if it weren't for

umm let's see oh yeah those no talent hacks from the Time Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis.

All artists from the 80's aren't selling like they used to. That's not limited to just Jesse. I'm

pretty sure that goes for that last crappy album Alex released with his burned up crack voice and that goes for the purple caped crusader too. lol

that's why the terms "black and "white" are so funny. I've seen some totally white black people (albino) and some pretty black white people (tanning booth)..so I wish people could be more descriptive...like mocha, caramel, sepia, ochre, umber, rose, pale blue, freckeld, etc. I have also known some actually blue black skinned people - which is an amazing color. I always wonder what percent of a certain ethnicity matter to people when assigning "race". I recall the day that they started referrring to Mariah Carey as "black" and that was a bit of a head scratcher since visually she could have been from so many ethnic backgrounds that I would not have put that as my top pick. People LOOK different once you remove the pigment - many forget that. You can see ethnic hertiage in bone structure, bone density, body type, hair... I work with some of that in facial reconstruction (not surgical) and have done so with ancient skulls. In the end it doesn't much matter cause it's all starting to weave together in interesting non specific ways - making some super cool looking people that hopefully won't have to fit into peoples boxes of racial identity in the future.

OK... I read what you said about everyone else... but to say Prince is selling gold or platinum is basically a lie. I can't even remember the last Prince album that didn't involve some type of accounting stunt or wasn't some type of bundling package, where the cd is forced on consumers of other products without the buyers knowledge. That's why there has been no new album in stores for a while. That's why he is re-recording his hits, hoping that buyers will respond better to familiar track titles. Prince isn't exactly riding high. And how are tickets selling on Prince's Welcome 2 Canada tour? Some of the youtube videos seem to indicate a lot of empty seats, and BORED concert-goers. And don't even get me started on Prince's whack azz"The Bird/Love Rollercoaster" medley featuring "Mystahh Maceo Parkerrrrrr". whofarted

musicology had the cd giveaway but billboard did also publish the separate real sales and those were just above 1million but might have gone up slight since. lets not forget the fact so many cds were given away might have led to lower real sales. These sales were from retail stores and had nothing to do with the concert and were not priced at normal prices unlike gagas latest cd

3121 crossed 1/2million in sales i saw this billboard chart

lotusflower also crossed 1/2million in sales - saw this billboard chart a few months back

The cd given out in the paper in the EU were not allowed to chart or included in any of this.

They ran a nationawide ad tying him onto Target (which I saw like 5 times and I barely watch tv) and less than $10 for a 3 cd set....no reason for it to sell so poorly except for... possibly... the content.

He doesn't have to. Prince has been the better artist but Jesse is clearly the

better guitarist. Period! What's all this bull about Alexander being so much better

than the Time or Jesse. Most of Alex success came from the Hearsay album when

Jimmy and Terry were the hottest producers on the planet. All True Man was a good

album but only the title track made noise. Alex final Tabu album dropped like a hot

potato because Jimmy and Terry didn't have a hand in it and were busy with other

projects. No one was checking for Alex after that point and he put the nail

in his own coffin by being a druggie. Jesse may not be a millionaire but dude produced his own

shit as well as others and he produced movie soundtracks (probably more than your almighty

Purple one) lol You say Purple Rain made Morris and Jesse famous. You clearly are misguided.

They were famous before the movie. If you think Morris didn't help make that movie or

help mold the image of The Time then your purple colored glasses are foggier than they

appear to be.

You're correct. I overlooked that one becase of the way wiki had it listed.

What's Missing peaked at number 8. Still 3 of Jesse's singles from his debut

album charted higher than that.
