F-Deluxe: will Clare Fischer be hired for the album?

Of course i understand that F-Deluxe might not have the money to pay for a full-orchestra recording by Clare Fischer. Neverthless, i feel like a reconstruction of The Family's original atmosphere wouldn't be complete without Fischer's melodramatic strings.

Will Clare Fischer be associated to the project?

Looks like no Clare. This is the latest from Paul:

Where's The Music, Fdeluxe?

A message to all members of Fdeluxe

I just got back from a trip to LA, and Susannah and I re-connected after about 6 months off.

We have 8 out of 10 tracks ready to mix, but we are still deciding who that person will be.

Once we make that decision, then we have to schedule them, figure out the budgets, and THEN we actually might have some music to show to you!!!!

Thanks for your incredible patience.

St Paul

Since the songs are going to mix down, and no mention of Clare's agreement to be on the album thus far, we can probably assume the shoe-string budget didn't allow for that signature Fischer/Family sound. It's a shame.

During one of the studio chat sessions with St. Paul (I guess this was about a year ago), I asked him if Clare Fisher was going to be hired. Paul then responded that there was no budget for that.

Too bad about Clare Fischer. And seeing as St Paul is touring down under it will probably be some time before we see any movement on the release of the F Deluxe album sad

Actually, he and his brothers are in St.Paul MN tonight and tomorrow night,
kickin' off their new band. Their Aussie tour follows in May and June. It
amazes me that they will be there that long.

I'm not putting too much faith in that album being done anytime soon either.
When anything new pops up, Paul's off and runnin' lol

And Paul, if you're seeing this, prove me wrong on the album release...I'd love it! lol

`

edit: I was talking about St.Paul, not Clare...but I'm pretty sure you
guys were able to figure that out for yourselves...lol

No. It was just too much money. But from the string arrangements I've heard that Paul did, they're spot on. Never fear.

They did meet with Clare's son though. Paul and Susannah was doing a Saturday or Sunday morning uStream chat while waiting on Clare's son to show up to discuss working on the album. Eventually it was realized it was going to be too pricey to have Clare do his thing on it. Paul's filling in the gap quite well though.

If you know how many types of music Paul has worked on it's a no brainer that he can bring that feel to the orchestral arrangement.

I'd rather hear what they can do NOW as opposed to a "throwback" project, cuz THAT would show no growth at all.....
cool cool cool

i think it's just that, but still maintaining the feel. Like updating a sound. At least that's what it seems like so far.

The album will be the perfect blend of the past and the present. I've heard good portions of it. It's got that earthy, gritty old school thing, but has a nice polished side as well with great arrangements, vocals, and songs.

I'm only sharing my point of view here so spare me the lobbying act but I'd rather hear Paul and Susannah come up with their own string arrangement style versus mimicking Clare.

One thing's for sure this aint gonna get released now til at least 2011.

They should have shut up got the thing recorded and done then come out shoutin' about it.

For me I've already lost the little bit of interest I had in it. Shit how long do you think Prince took to put together their first album for them, I'll tell ya a few months.

The difference is Prince had a big ass budget. These guys are pulling it mostly out of pocket between making a living and raising families with no label backing. You seriously lose interest in music just because you have to wait? If it's good I could care LESS how long it takes. Clearly you were never a Stevie Wonder fan...lol.
Plus I'm sure a lot of those tunes on the first Family record were laying around and used for the project - as opposed to writing towards a project. I don't know that for sure, but Prince tended to be like that back in the day.

Clare is the king at what he does, so it nothing wrong with using him,
I would even suggest Lisa Coleman, she does a really good job with that
