Damn lucky I'm not an A&R rep with ulterior motives... I'd sign him right away, throw a bunch of loot at him on the front end, make sure he wound up in a ton of debt on the back- therefore locking him into a lifelong contract with my major label!

I was totally mesmerized by this guys vocals!!!!! I noticed that he doesnt list Prince in his Influences!!! Maybe the rivalry between Prince and Morris Day has overflowed into real life!!!

Just in case anyone was wondering, Derran writes the lyrics to all of these songs basically in partnership with his roommate Malcolm Parson at Berklee College of Music, who does the tracks.

The auto-tune you are hearing is used for added effect on the chorus in a few songs, but not used at all during the verse in the songs. Nothing more than an effect though, I'm pretty positive he doesn't need auto-tune's assistance.

yeah, Autotune on the really HIGH un-natural sounding setting, no less.

Just another note, these songs are not studio quality, most of what you are hearing was produced using reason and garage band and the vocals were sang directly into a macbook pro using the built in microphone, and recorded in a dorm room. So it is not professionally produced or mixed or anything of that nature. Just something else to take into consideration before things get said like too much auto tune and "how do you know if he can sing" etc. etc.
