I finally got around to playing the demo and final versions of "Niagra Falls" back to back. That echo hits you like a wallop when the final version kicks in.

All 6 of u W&L "fans" are killing me. Enjoy the new joint. I know I won't.

why do you think i'm automatically kissing W&L's collective butt just because i find your goading and trolling unacceptable?

i like the new album fine. i don't think it's the greatest album ever made, but i don't think it was meant to be. it's a good, pleasant piece of music. i certainly don't think it's worth the amount of bile you and some other people have been affording it on this thread.

my biggest issue has more to do with addressing your poor behavior than defending an album.

in other words, you all made your point. you don't like it. fine. great. move on and let the people who DO enjoy it have a pleasant discussion.

So that's your excuse for doing it? because other people do? shrug

However, your posts weren't very clear if THAT was the point you were trying to make because you didn't talk about people insulting you for liking a particular album, I only saw you doing that to others.

L4OATheOriginal said:

damn dude am i affecting u that much that a post directed 2 greycap, u have 2 include me at the end? WOW!!!

Just giving you the attention I know you crave. I wouldn't want you to feel left out of the conversation. thumbs up! ...or maybe it was just because greycap was responding to a reply about your actions and so rather relevant.

okay if i'm "insulting" as u say then ur insulting me 4 not reading what i was getting at in he 1st place rolleyes otherwise if u had read everything i had posted u would have known that was what i was getting at. and it wasn't grey replying about my actions it was purplecam that got it exactly right. grey knew from the onslaught so there was no need 2 go any further with it.

but in case u still don't understand it. here it is: if those that like this album by wendy and lisa want 2 hurl insults at those that don't but yet will diss anything prince has done (as one poster said "this album by wendy and lisa is better than anything prince has done in the last 15 years), if those that disagree with that kind of statement, then the attacking and insults should b swung both ways. don't just come after grey, myself or anyone else that isn't feeling wendy and lisa like some may. everyone's entitled 2 their opinion since music is subjective without xpecting the same insults hurled at us.

Everyone is entitled to their opinions but to the W&L non-fans why are you still around this thread even after you address your dislike for the album? I thought this thread was about the album or supposed to be more W&L friendly? I mean you can talk about Prince all over here but this is the only place where we can chat about W&L until Renata supposed to add a forum to W&L site. If you don't like the music then fine and say it and moving on rather just come back and baiting. I know if I don't like an album of an artist, I would say my feelings, and leave the thread. IT seem like some people have something personal against W&L, people that you don't know too much about.

I am far from a W&L butt-kisser. I have been critical of the music too and there are some songs in particularly GB that I didn't like and I still think that GB is their weakest albums but I think they wrote the album for themselves and let out of their pain and frustrated and many fans just like it. Even Wendy said one time GB was intend to be their theraputical album. THis album is not only dedicated to the fans but it is very rich and very superior. It still not as good as their first three albums but it is way better than GB, just my opinion.

But overall they are just one of the type of artists that I can listen to without skipping too much songs on the CD or playlist. And also another proof that I am not some 'blind W&L follower' as some of non-WL fans would say is I believed that Wendy still having some grudge toward Prince and it was reveal when she expressed her disappointment at him for not show up at the Family Jamm in their recent interviews, and she have the right to feel that way but really why she gave up her hopes when Prince time and time again is going to do what he wants anyway even that means disappointing other people? Lisa handled the situation better with 'Why I am not suprised' attitude and just move on. And course I have been critical of Prince of how horribly he treated W&L, Jill Jones, Brownmark, and his former associates. Also Prince, W&L are highly skilled musicians. Prince have good albums before and after W&L era or 1983-86, and also Wendy and Lisa show off their brillance and very high musically complexity especially with their first two albums and that they can stand on their own without doing so much the Prince sound. If some people think that W&L are the messiah then that is their opinion same goes the people who thought that W&L did more harm than good when Prince gave them a lot of creative freedom during the ATWIAD and Parade and Dream Factory era.

If non-W&L fans have so much anmosity toward them they welcome to start another thread. Leave this thread to the fans who appreciated their talents and them as musicians and awesome moms too. cool

Like Anxiety said lets get back talking about the album or get back to talk about how overall awesome Wendy and Lisa are.

From Wendy & Lisa's "twitter" comments...

we need to make some money off the cd sales and then we can figure out how to finance a tour.. WE WANT TO TOUR.

God wouldn't it be great to see them do a club or theater tour of the US?

Wendy and Lisa need to put their names at the end of the comments their comments can be quite confusing to the non diehard fans who cant tell the diffeence. But yeah that Wendy said that they need the money from CD sales to use to tour.

Wendy said many years ago one thing about missed being on a major label was they provide the financial backing artist to tour. With the CD money and also using some of the money off their scoring gigs, tehy should at least can have enough to do mini tours in small venues.

If they can book a gig in Indianapolis, I will go in a heartbeat.

So, here's what I wanted to post before but couldn't because, well, a brother had to rush off to work. lol

When I listen to Wendy & Lisa's work -- from their debut to now -- I see growth. The weird chords and dazzling progressions were always there. But Listening to WFoWC, I'm hearing changes in texture, uses of effect and thematic consistency that totally reflects their time in the scoring world.

And, granted, a lot of their time-worn musical changes show up here. Some parts seem like fleshed-out motifs from the Girl Brothers album. Other figures that have been prominent in their work with Neil Finn or Doyle Bramhall II lurk in this project's work, too.

But the familiarity isn't a strike against the project. It's as much part of their style as high-pitched, jangly guitars are Prince's or the clav is Stevie's. In the same way that Prince used the introduction of the snare to change moods in Joy in Repetition, for example, I hear subtle shifts in the compositions that evoke movement the same way a painter might use light or variations in hue.

Wendy & Lisa always had a knack for bringing an epic breadth to some of their productions (read "I Think It Was December," "Why Wait for Heaven" and "Mother of Pearl") but they've found a way -- in a way that their sessions on Meshell's "Bitter" foreshadowed -- to do it without being melodramatic or hammy.

My biggest quibble with Prince's stuff from the 1990s to present has been his sometimes-sloppy production work (from the bassiness of TRC to the cheap keyboard sax sound on "Resolution"). But, hearing WFoWC, I'm able to hear where the women's production touch might have been on his Planet Earth (which I rather liked, except for those 3 weak songs in the middle). I haven't been able to find any such shortcuts or sloppiness here, which is a joy.

It's done masterfully. I like it a lot. That's what I hear: mastery and subtlety.

Any chance you would consider applying this interventionism elsewhere on this site because judging by your reasons for doing so its is much needed (especially considering that new Prince music is on the horizon), or will it prove to be official sanction of the double standards LAOA and Grey have been moaning about (never thought i would ever share an opinion with either of those two gents). You are so out order coming here telling people what discussions they can have on what thread, when thread jacking and worse behaviour is rife elsewhere on this site. My apologies if L40A is your son, as that would make the tone of your admonishment understandable, if not acceptable.
