Sheila E. is playing a concert in Santa Fe tomorrow night with her family as part of a 7 day Christian celebration at our brand new convention center.

The mayor scheduled to speak and guitarist Ramon Bermudez was scheduled to play but they have pulled out after reading on the Christian group, Revive's website that the troubles in this world are largely the result of the "homosexual explosion."

I knew she was heavily religious but I didn't know she was into bigotry.

I don't understand this proliferation of hardcore religion among Prince and his former associates. What's driving so many of them to it? Especially considering they were, so many of them, free spirits.

People grow up and change. I don't hear or see Sheile E performing "Erotic City" anymore. In addtion, she may not be aware of what the Christian group promoting the concert has on their website and if you do not agree with "homosexuality" you are well within your right to say so.

However, you are not within your right to prevent people from their pursit of earning a living, having a place to live or resticting their gathering in public places.

I am begining to think you guys don't really know what discrimination.

I'm disappointed with Sheila for supporting a hate-filled group that spreads an evil message. There's nothing wrong with saying so. No one's trying to stifle her from making a living. But you're kidding yourself if you don't think the living she's become accustomed to didn't come from a lot of gay and lesbian fans.

The belief that homosexuality is a sin is beside the point and is not what I'm talking about. Listing homosexuality (and the acceptance of it) as one of the six reasons for our "national destruction" is hateful. That's where the bigotry comes in.

Last I heard she does still associate with them.

And what is considered a "sin" in one religion/beleif may not be in another. Alot of Christian churches are accepting gay and lesbians, although many are not.

That was always the rumor but never proven as far as I know. She been Christian for a pretty long time, i think since getting therapy and finding christian healing for her child abuse. I dunno the whole thing is sketchy. this group might not even talk about homosexuality...maybe they've changed their stance.

I read the link and they do put rape, abortion and disintegration of the family or whateva on their list of problems, then they go an apologize for saying homosexual explosion instead of sexual immorality. So now I wonder if that Mayor would have stayed committed if the choice of words had been different. trouble with politicians is that they are so political.
