I guess when you get up onstage wearing lingerie, singing lyrics like "We can fuck until the dawn",you begin to feel shameful and guilty? lol You feel like you need redemption?
like I said she has friends and former band mates that are gay, that to me is two faced. I found out a week ago Wendy was gay and she taakes pis the Sheila acting all budy budyand has talked about peace and acceptance. I am just very disappointed.

Wendy been gay a long time and she seen many a Prince associate go thru religious and spiritual awakenings. I don't think she gives a flyin fig.

Sheila's site has a message trying to address the "anti gay" issue. WHile it doesn't necessarily negate what the Revive groups believes, she is saying she accepts all people which is nice.

On a side note, religious groups that use Sodom and Gemorrah as evidence for anti gay sentiment don't know what they're talking about. modern Biblical scholars say S&G's sin was not about gay sex but being unhospitable and turning away guests which was a huge no-no in that society.

09/19/08 - Santa Fe Update

Dear Family, Friends, and Fans...

I am performing with my family for Revive Santa Fe for no other reason than to be a blessing, and to fellowship with the love of Christ. There was a very unfortunate statement made and it was acknowledged and clarified through a press conference yesterday. This event is not an anti gay movement as one man has insisted on labeling. I am asked to pray for and with people everyday. As I have a sincere love for everyone, it doesn't matter if they are gay, straight, black, white, Christian or Atheist. Everyone needs love and that's what I'm about. I don't judge anyone, that’s for God to do. It is my prayer that everyone will come to know God and serve Him in truth and love. My family's and my mission is to be a blessing where ever we go, in what ever we do, and to whom ever we perform with and in front of.

I read the link and they do put rape, abortion and disintegration of the family or whateva on their list of problems, then they go an apologize for saying homosexual explosion instead of sexual immorality. So now I wonder if that Mayor would have stayed committed if the choice of words had been different. hmmm trouble with politicians is that they are so political. whofarted

That mayor was smart to stay the hell away from this. The rewording does not help in any way.

Let me repost what their website originally said: They believe that "six indicators reveal that our nation’s society is heading towards the path of national destruction" Including:
6. Homosexual " Explosion"
* 'Enough is enough. The comparisons of Sodom and Gomorrah to the United States are, unfortunately, accurate. We must stop affirming the homosexual lifestyle as an accepted behavior within society.'

The statement was what it was - backpedaling on the language now doesn't change what this group stands for. disbelief
And the act of disguising condemnation in a thin veil of prayer, masquerading as "love," is deplorable. neutral

didn't they start basically cuz Sheila's never had a serious BF other than Prince? I mean, I've never seen any evidence of her makin out or going down on some chick. Its a shame when a woman is a notorious bachelorette she gets labeled a lesbo but if a dude is a notorious bachelor he get labeled a playa/pimp!

HOW TRUE!!!! especially in the US..... try telling most "Bible-belters" that the Bible was NOT WRITTEN IN ENGLISH... and they get all defensive.

FACT: If you're reading King James, the JW, whatever version in ENGLISH you are reading AN INTERPRETATION.....BY DEFINITION.

The Judeo-Christian Bible was written in Hebrew (Old Testament/Hebrew Scriptures) and a combination of Aramaic and Greek (New Testament). Period.

People grow up and change. I don't hear or see Sheile E performing "Erotic City" anymore. In addtion, she may not be aware of what the Christian group promoting the concert has on their website and if you do not agree with "homosexuality" you are well within your right to say so.

However, you are not within your right to prevent people from their pursit of earning a living, having a place to live or resticting their gathering in public places.

I am begining to think you guys don't really know what discrimination.

Who on this thread advocated restricting this gathering?

I'm disappointed with Sheila for supporting a hate-filled group that spreads an evil message. There's nothing wrong with saying so. No one's trying to stifle her from making a living. But you're kidding yourself if you don't think the living she's become accustomed to didn't come from a lot of gay and lesbian fans.

And why did you put homosexuality in quotation marks?

-----
You missed my point. These people have an opinion they are free to have it. It does not mean that they are practicing discrimination. They are expressing their opinion.
In addtion, I am sure Sheile knows she has gay fans and I doubt she knows what is on the groups website and even if she does know it does not mean she dislikes gay people.

In seeing bigotry.... . .. . it is important not to become the animal you dislike so as not to become a bigot yourself.

In America, Sheila E. may choose to live as she chooses and if any group enjoys her expression then it is good for them to have chosen to support her lifestyle, and they should continue because it is her free expression (or Prince's guided tour of her) that allowed them to see her.

You know that most of the world's religions condemn homosexuality. While I agree that bigotry is bigotry, you are attempting to take a simplistic stance on an issue that is far from simple. Everyone tries to find a place where they fit in and a way to make their lives work for them. Every day, people choose between their religious convictions and what's an "acceptable" way of life in their respective societies. Sheila is no different. Its not really fair to be mad at her for not placing as high of a value on her own sexuality as you might. Maybe she values her Christianity more than she does her sexuality? If that's the case, then of course she would play for a church even if she herself didn't necessarily agree with or adhere to their specific set of convictions. If they are doing what she considers to be for the most part, "good work" then its understandable for her to make a choice that she feels represents her best interests or the interests she feels are most valuable to her.
or
Maybe she needed the money so she took the gig? shrug

Sheila E. is playing a concert in Santa Fe tomorrow night with her family as part of a 7 day Christian celebration at our brand new convention center.

The mayor scheduled to speak and guitarist Ramon Bermudez was scheduled to play but they have pulled out after reading on the Christian group, Revive's website that the troubles in this world are largely the result of the "homosexual explosion."

I knew she was heavily religious but I didn't know she was into bigotry.

Its not bigotry for a Christian if she is one. The Christian Bible says homosexuality is a sin.

can you point me to the quote from the New Testament? I always wanted to see it.
