as a matter of fact, Dez wrote all of Prince's music, all of the Time's music,
Vanity 6's music, Nirvana's songs, and Bruce Springsteen's too. That's why Dez is in the songwritet's hall of fame.

Yeah, it's Dez's cut "She Loves To Video". There are a few similarities but When Doves DESTROYS Dez's cut. Word was that Dez played a show out here in L.A. and P, Lisa and Wendy went to go so him perform. One of the songs Dez did was "She Loves To Video". P was probably quiet all the way in the car except for telling the driver "Hurry the fuck up...I got to get to the studio before I forget this groove!"

Nice info. You can hear it, the effect at the start of the track is like the vocal effect in WDC. nod I really must pick up Dez's book I keep putting it off.

BTW, to the OP, it's not unreleased now, Dez released a 2CD Retrospective a few years back. smile

I would like to hear Dez's song. Songwriters are always inspired by each other, so there would be nothing wrong or unusual about Prince putting that vibe on a track of his own (not that you said there was). I wonder what Dez had cookin' that might have led Prince to WDC!

Dez released this track on his 2 CD set A Retrospective, and the accompanying book says this :

It is important to note that Prince and Co were still working on music for the film at the time of The Palace show, and She Loves To Video had obviously already been written and recorded. Yet to be written was Prince's soon to be hit from the soundtrack When Doves Cry. Many have note the similarity between the looping drums of "She Loves To Video" and the programmed Linndrum pattern of When Doves Cry. I make no statement one way or the other, only to state that one definitely predated the other ....
