Info from wikipedia:

A four-track video was filmed based on the Apollonia 6 album, directed by Brian Thomson (Australian Production Designer of the original stage versions of Rocky Horror Show and Jesus Christ Superstar), scripted by Keith Williams (concept writer for such videos as Against All Odds/Phil Collins, Ghostbusters/Ray Parker Jr, and She Works Hard for the Money/Donna Summer), with a cast comprising of Ricky Nelson, Edy Williams and Buck Henry. Shot in a Los Angeles film studio in 1985, and produced by Limelight, a UK video company operating out of LA, it never went beyond rough-cut and has never seen the light of day...that is until recently. The video was posted on YouTube on August 30, 2007 and has left fans both surprised (that it existed) and delighted.

So this explains where these videos came from wink It's a shame it was never released in 1985.It could have really promoted the album, which died a quick death.

i watched the whole thing.. it was "cheesy"... i mean the acting was so fake... i could make something like that with my little cousins... of course not lingerie... but anyways... who wrote that video album... it was terrible...

its not really worth watching... unless you want to get a good look at all of them....

I like it boxed it's cheesy, but in a cool 80s kinda way (if that makes any sense, lol)

I have reason to believe these clips were posted by the director. There have been various entries about this aborted project on A6's Wikipedia page for quite sometime. Naturally, I assumed it was a hoax. The Ricky Nelson connection sounded too far fetched to be true. I've read repeatedly that Prince [thus, WB] simply lost interest in the A6 project. If this isn't definitive proof of that...I don't know what else is.

Yeah,Prince quickly got bored with the Apollonia 6 project. When the first single "Sex Shooter" failed to become a big hit, that's when the project went downhill. It's a shame they (Prince and Warners) didn't agressively promote a second single. The excellent "Blue Limousine" could have been a major hit single. It had alot of potential and could have made it onto the pop charts.

"Blue Limousine" is the highlight of the album.I went crazy when I first heard it....Brenda's vocals are so strong and powerful! If this song had been released as a single and aggressively promoted,it would have been one of the 80s biggest pop hits.Pop fans would have ate it up.

A lot of 80s video had cheesy sets/props and grainy footage and this video album probably could have gotten a pass at the time as a promotional tool.

Really becuase I think "A Million Miles" is a stronger, funkier track (maybe not as hooky) but maybe her vocals are better on "Blue Limousine". Both tracks could have easily been Top Ten Billboard pop hits with some push. You can't argue that even if you hate Apollonia's voice (I don't) that "Sex Shooter" is a more obivous single than even "Nasty Girl" (actually, "Nasty Girl" probalby wasn't all an easy single choice..it's got such a crazy beat).

This is FANTASTIC!!!

Why are we just now seeing this?!?

This short film gives me a new appreciation for Apollonia 6. The style of the mise-en-scene is totally original. The dialog is unique and well-written, and when combined with the bad acting delivers an innovative style consistent with the music of Apollonia 6.

The vocal talent of Apollonia 6 was limited, but the music and lyrics were amazing.

The acting in Apollonia 6 was similarly bad, but the dialog and the look more than made up for it.

I am certain that Prince did have a hand in this. His sense of humor is definately present in this filmic presentation.

It would've tanked as a pop hit but it would've been one hell of an R&B hit, that's for damn sure.

I cannot believe that Ricky "Ozzie & Harriet" Nelson was in this. (RIP)

And Edy Williams, wasn't she a porn star? She was married to Russ Meyer I think.

I'm surprised there is a video for the whole album when there was already a "Sex Shooter" video (as seen on the Purple Rain 20th anniversary DVD).

It isnt the whole album. There are a few cuts that are represented in this - one is the best songon the album, A Million Miles.

Who's Buck Henry?

A comic actor - he was on the early SNL with Belushi doing the infamous Samurai routine

The songs featured in this mini-movie: Happy Birthday Mr.Christian,Sex Shooter,Ooh She She Wa Wa and Blue Limousine.

Since it's unfinished, perhaps other songs might have been included too?

Imo,the released "Sex Shooter" video is better (and funnier) than the video that appears in this mini-movie.

EAT - BUY - FILL

I think it was only meant to showcase three songs, built around the "Happy Birthday, Mr. Christian" theme -- perhaps as a sick-humored birthday present for another sick-humored rock star sharing the last name of Nelson.

From European Apollonia 6 interview, 1984/85:

One direct result of the succes of Purple Rain is, Apollonia revealed, that Warners "requested - no DEMANDED - that we make a video book for every song on the album. We finished one for Sex Shooter before we left. We're very spoilt now - we used the cinematographer from the movie, Don Thorn, shot it in Panavision, worked on it for two entire days. Once we've finished doing these interviews we'll go back to Los Angeles to work on the rest. It'll take some time but it'll be terrific. We write our storyboards, we design the majority of our clothes, we write our music ( wink ), we write our lyrics and we co-direct. It's a good feeling of independance to have been given the opportunity to do something so expensive for 3 young women. For me it's very exciting. It's a challenge but.....it's also a piece of cake"

sadly, you can probably set your clock by how fast Prince's lawyers will ask that it be taken down. You have to understand... Prince doesn't like his fans at all.

Or at least he enjoys acting like he doesn't like us.
