I'm surprised that people are acting like they don't know what you mean.
It has never been unknown in the Black community that Prince ain't into Black women.

I was actually surprise he dated you. I thought even you were too Black for him.
That makes me sad because I have loved Prince and his music for almost my entire life. And until recently he ain't even wanna admit that he was Black. Oh well. He's old now anyway. lol aight, I'm just playing. But you know what I mean.

I understand where ur coming from nod im not the lightest brown in the crayon box myself(giggle) and when I first started gettin in2 Prince I noticed that I hardly saw any1 that looked like me(Robin u know what I look like rite,lol)...I hope u guys understand what I mean...Im talking about the videos and proteges, not his personal life...thats his business... neutral and then when I finally found out there were black girls who were actually musically associated with Prince...I come on here(the org) and they trash the mess out of 'em disbelief just really annoying mad

They trash any black woman associated with Prince on all these unofficial Prince sites. To say he treats Black Women different? Give me a break, a female is a female is a female. Why this whole "Prince treat Black Women different" is becoming an issue, is an issue to satisfy the appetites of the "Jealous" ones that's all it is, "extreme jealousy", so don't be surprised.

There are members that are totally fuming over the fact that he has a Black female protege. I'm sorry but if it was the other way around, there would be very little criticism, why are some of us playing like that's not the truth? I can't get over how the insulting threads of "Tamar" are allowed to stay here, but the ones defending her are deleted.

Seem like someone who is doing the deletions apparently is enjoying all the insults on Tamar. It's really sad that if Prince actually (and I hope he doesn't) comes here to read these posts, that he would see the enormous amount of insults going around about his current protege, and yet some of you have been to her latest shows with Prince and smiled in both their faces only to come back to these forums and insult his protege. But it won't take him one minute flat to figure out why and to know that the "problem" in our society nobody likes to talk about still exists, get what I mean?. Now if he does come here, at least he'll know who the fake fans are.

First off, let me say that you seem as beautiful on the inside as you are on the out.I'm glad your life seems to be moving in the right direction. Forgive me if this has been covered before but, what songs(that you are aware of) were inspired by your relationship with Prince.
I KNOW FOR A FACT THAT HE WROTE INSATAIBLE AND GET OFF FOR ME HE TOLD ME THAT I INSPIRED HIM TO WRITE THOSE SONGS razz WERE THERE MORE? I'M SURE!
Good Lord! You inspired him to write "Gett Off"? Interesting, That's one of his more agressive songs where he's talking kind of forceful to his lover. Sounds like you brought out something in him that he didn't know he had, lol

No, it was other people that didn't want to admit he was Black for the comfort of their own wants and needs of him. Plus he knew most Black women wouldn't let him get away with crap that most non-black women will put up with, He wasn't stupid. He knew exactly who it was easier to play with at the time.. I have never heard of him denying being Black. In many of his songs he sure proved he was if you really listened to his songs.. You have to remember, he was younger back then and living the "rock style" life. What other females do you think was more into him then? So it's no surprise that you were used to seeing him with them. Especially back in the 80s a lot of artists were forced to perform in videos and on stage with non-black females, since then, as you have noticed that has changed tremendously. But I have never heard anyone quote him saying he wasn't Black, especially when both his parents were Black. And please, don't start with all that nonsense about "ooh, his mother was half this or daddy was half that,"all nothing but rumors since Purple Rain gave them that impression because of the role the actress who played his mother in Purple Rain. It has been noted that it was not Prince's idea for a white actress to play his mother and give people that false assumption. I believe it was the director or producer's idea. It was a smart move to attract a white audience to see the film.

Your welcome. And to think you have had a baby too...you look amazing and all the hard work you put into your body is very evident. Also I think your breasts look really great too.

I've struggled with the idea of getting breast implants cuz of the work I do, I do feel alot of pressure when I am there to have them but in all honesty I don't want them. I guess I have a love/hate relationship with them. I really don't judge women for getting plastic surgey...alot of my friends have breast implants but for me...I don't know...I guess the decision runs alot deeper for me than most people. I kinda want to be appreciated for who I am and I guess I'm kinda afraid fake breasts might attract fake people...I just want to be me...or maybe I just over intellectualize things too much! LOL!

...but I just wanted to tell that I think if the decision was a good one for you I think that is great, and hope it will help you with your career and I think you are really beautiful...inside and out.

Mmm hmm. People on the org don't want to hear this and deny it, but it was so damn BLATANT!! Especially in the 80s.

I was so into him then (I was a teenager) and my friends would be like, "Why are you so into him? He wouldn't even give you the time of day if he met you. He's into White chicks only. Where are the sexy Black women ANYWHERE in his videos, etc? And Rosie Gaines and her ilk don't count."

I have to say that it really f***ed with my self esteem at the time.

When you say "EVERYONE AROUND HIM MADE SURE THAT I KNEW THAT," what do you mean? Who said that to you? What was their point?

Please enlighten. This is something I've been trying to get a first-hand account of for so very long.

Thanks a lot, Robin!!!! Stay cool. cool
PEOPLE LIKE JEROME, AND SOME OF THE GUY'S IN HIS BAND....PEOPLE THAT I MET WHILE I WAS DOING THE MOVIE...DOES IT REALLY MATTER WHO SAID WHAT? THE FACT IS THAT IT WAS TRUE! AND YES IN SOME WAYS IT HURT ME TOO BUT I LOVE ALL RACES AND HE TOO HAS THAT CHOICE...IN MINNESOTA THAT IS THE THING! ALOT OF BLACK ME DATE OTHER RACES...THAT IS JUST HOW IT IS AND LIKE I SAID I AM PART WHITE AS WELL SO IT IS WHAT IT IS wink BUT I FIND DARK BLACK SKIN BEAUTIFUL MY MOTHER WHO IS NOW MY ANGEL IN HEAVEN cool WAS BLACKER THAN BLACK AND SHE IS THE MOST BEAUTIFUL WOMEN IN THE WORLD TO ME cool SHE IS SO MUCH APART OF ME THAT SOMETIMES I FORGET WHAT I LOOK LIKE! UNTIL I PASS BY A MIRROR! MY SOUL IS SO BLACK cool I LIVE TO SAVE MY CHILDREN IN AFRICA! THAT IS WHY I DO WHAT I DO, TO GET TO THEM, sad TO GIVE THEM CLEAN WATER AND FOOD...MY MOTHER CROSSED OVER FROM A.I.D.S. AND SO MANY BABIES ARE CALLING FOR A MOTHER....ME! THAT'S MY JOB...WHEN I WAS ALITTLE GIRL LIVING IN ABANDONED BUILDINGS WITH MY MOTHER I WOULD GET ON MY KNEES AT NIGHT AND PRAY TO GOD THE ONLY FATHER THAT I HAVE EVER KNOWN! I WOULD PRAY TO MY FATHER TO GIVE ME THE POWER TO CHANGE THE WORLD AND THEY wink MY MOTHER, MY ANGELS AND GOD wink HAVE GIVEN ME THE POWER razz AND I WILL....I WILL NEVER STOP...UNTIL EVERY CHILD IN AFRICA AND EVERY OTHER PART OF THE WORLD HAS THE LOVE THAT THEY NEED. I PRAY THAT IS THE POWER THAT PRINCE SAW IN ME cool WHEN HE,TOLD ME THAT MY NAME SHOULD BE POWER!

I am so feeling this comment.

The Robin part I'm not so much connected to because I didn't know anything about her or career before I saw her mentiond on this forum...but in terms of the big elephant in the room, Prince's pro-light SKINN-DED leanings...goodness gracious me...

I remember watching something on tv in the 80's when he first hit in terms of commercial/international success. Whatever it was I was watching, I remember after my father admonishing his performance (something to do with it looking like a second rate James Brown on talent night in clothes he stole from Little Richard's steamer trunk eek),

...he then peered into the tv, then slowly pronounced "this is worse than the paper bag test we had for drum majorettes in college..."

...and my mother looking over my shoulder, then said in that honified southern drawl of hers, "Oh...I see. He's COLOR-struck."

Then they, being babies of the bayou south and children of the Civil Rights movement, just sort of laughed in agreement together, "how ORIGINAL of him!" and left the room... wink

...even though it has been reported that he's dated this or that sista of darker complexion, I will admit that it always seemed odd to me that those were always very hush hush type relationships that never really saw any public media play. The other girls are usually draped over the arm, go to the awards cermonies, public outings, charity functions...while the former alway seem to get a one line blurb in a one sided confessional as a reminder that, 'well, he likes us TOO!...um...sort of'.... neutral

He did go through a short period in his intial international success where he was pushing the idea that he was only "part" black. I remember it being very irritating. But it really was such a long tme ago that the details are so scroggly woggly and foggy. But I have many a vintage magazine in my parents attic where he took that "I'm mixed" ball an ran as far as he could with it.

..at least until he passed a mirror one day and saw it was time for a touch-up lol . But that's okay, when we're young that's the time to try on different identities and personas. I was just listening to the song "Family Name" the other night and thinking, "wow...it feels really good to see how far he's come in being able to disuss these issues".....I also like the tune "The Sacrifice of Victor" as a discussion point for this topic. For me it's abundantly clear that he's done a 180° of sorts where kind of the "say it loud I'm black and I'm proud" concept has come into play. Lord knows what a tragedy it would have been to see him go the way of some of our other celebs who insist on the nose jobs, the skin lightening and so on. I say, I'm just glad that even in the midst of being a globally recognized celebrity, he managed to come on back home cool

...Okay. now I feel bad because this has nothing to do with Madame Royal:boxed:

Hi Robin, nice to 'cyber-meet' you.

Firstly, here's a picture of me so you can see who ur talking to...
http://www.pbphonehome.co...en42cu.png

Just been reading through all you have said so far. Congratulations on all the work you are doing that you feel so good about. Nice to sense your 'power' through the screen.

I agree with you 100 per cent about Women needing to 'unite' and Stand Up. I believe we have something of great value inside us, perhaps something that has been quite confronting for 'men in general' to handle..

I'm proud to be Female, especially in this day and age where there are still so many little boys out there thinking they can exploit us, or teach us something, or give us the kind of advice that we should really be gettin from our fellow sisters and Mothers wink

Can't say I'd ever be a man's 'protoge', not that I'm sexist on the whole, but I think world history has proven beyond a shadow of a doubt that Men do tend to miss the point a bit. I like to learn from people who get the point. My teacher is a wonderful motherly figure, in her 80's now, a very wise nurturing woman.

Also, your comments about Prince's past treatment of women interested me. How big a part did his Fame play in the way he treated them and you? Do you think he would have been so 'cavalier' and dishonest if he'd been just an average guy on the street? I realise thats speculative, but I got a hunch that alot of things go to a persons head when they hit the 'big time' and pretty much think they can do whatever they like...

I agree 100 percent with you about Prince needing an angel and a messenger. One can only hope he's listening and doesnt continue to presume that he knows whats best. Recent events would indicate there are still a few things amiss in the over-all Prince picture.

Your comments about the entertainment industry, I can relate to them as well. I think we might be looking at a few 'prophecies' coming true soon..this one in particular.. " All things hidden shall be revealed ".. no matter how much money people have, no matter how many gag orders they have, no matter how much they think they are entitled to engage in Spiritual Wickedness in High Places... everything will soon be revealed. biggrin

Robin its wonderful ur a forgiving person, just wanted to say sorry for the way Prince treated you. Boys will be boys. And perhaps a good experience for you in the long term, as you said, you learned alot, and it helped define for you what you will and will not tolerate from a man, be he half woman or not wink

Thanks for your time Robin.
God Bless and Best Wishes,
X

Hello baby girl.

i recently read the book 'slave to the rhythm' and prince is depicted as a nasty, manipulative, selfish, control freak; would this be an accurate description?

Have you read any books on P and how truthful are they?

I heard you commented on Prince in bed; what did you say; if you don't mind commenting again.

thanks
NO I HAVE NOT READ MANY BOOKS ABOUT HIM, I GUESS BECAUSE I DO FEEL THAT I KNEW HIM WELL! OVER THE YEARS I AM SURE THAT HE HAS CHANGED JUST LIKE I HAVE...I PRAY THAT HE IS MORE HONEST...AND LOVING...AND NOT SO CONTROLING...HE WAS NEVER SELFISH WITH ME SO THAT DOES NOT APPLY TO OUR RELATIONSHIP...HE DID SOME THINGS THAT REALLY HURT ME sad SO AFTER I LEFT I TOLD A MAGAZINE SO PERSONAL THINGS...PRINCE WAS A VERY ROMANTIC LOVER...SOFT AND SEXY wink VERY MUCH LIKE BEING WITH A MAN AND A WOMAN AT THE SAME TIME...IT WAS CRAZY & BEAUTIFUL...VERY MUCH LIKE IN MY FANTASIES...BUT I AM A VERY POWERFUL LOVER AND SOMETIMES A GIRL LIKES TO BE MAN HANDLED!!!!! cool IF YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN AND THAT WAS NOT APART OF HIS LOVE MAKING...I HAVE A VERY INSATABLE SEX DRIVE wink wink wink I CAN NEVER GET ENOUGH!!!! MOST LOVERS THAT I HAVE HAD COULD NOT KEEP UP razz I AM STILL WAITING FOR TRUE LOVE AND I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR LIFE TIMES.

clapping Thank you! When I read that I was like, when did he ever deny he was black?? That is just not true.

I say, I'm just glad that even in the midst of being a globally recognized celebrity, he managed to come on back home cool

...Okay. now I feel bad because this has nothing to do with Madame Royal:boxed:
lol

I would have to see those interviews in print myself to believe that he denied being black. Otherwise, its complete hearsay and assumptions by other people who saw the actors that played his parents in Purple Rain movie.

I thought Mani is part Egyptian, which lies in the African continent if we want to get technical. How does that make her part White/Italian?

Many don't consider Egyptians to be African, eventhough Egpyt is located on the continent of Africa.

Mani's dad is white Italian and her mom is from Egypt.
