hey mr. bland, i just recently watched a news segment (or maybe somebody posted an article here) about the death of session musicians and i was wondering what your take was on that... the article mentioned how during the late 70's there were players who the industry would call upon to help flesh out a song...not neccessarily as a songwriter but someone who would bring a certain dynamic to the sound. nowadays we have producers who rely on computer keyboards to flesh out tracks which in my opinion limits the creative juices... thoughts? Space for sale... | |

Hey Mike.
Do you recall doing an interview with Prince and the Band on the stage of the Gold Experience Tour at Wembley Arena England, when Prince (face covered in a black scarf) answered questions via Mayte. He whispered the answers to Mayte and she told them to the rather fine lady interviewer. Did this seem silly to you? I can remember it did look very silly, even for a fan. ----------

1) Do you think Prince lurks here? Considering his interest in the internet, I imagine it's hard not to visit a site called .org. 2) Also, what do you think about him closing down npgmc? He doesn't want to work with labels on other than an exception, short-term basis, so how do you think he will get his prolific work out there to the fans? Gracias. Come here, babe.. yeah... | |

Michael, It seems to me that for the most part this trend toward producer driven output does inhibit the creative flow in many instances. My opinion is that too often, the "hot producer of the moment" vibe is very formulaic and becomes boring to my ears after a short time. At times, there is a hot debate raging over whether Prince needs some type of producer to bring freshness to his vision. You can guess what I think about this, but what do you think? Something bee bothering me lately after reading and finding info on musicians i found alot of them to be violent towards women (James brown, jackie wilson, sly stone, hendrix, mingus, axl rose, slash, steven adler, jim morrison, icke turner, tommy lee, van morrison). I have heard bad stories about Prince. Do you know about any violence towards women? What are his general feeling about women? Do he respect them? | |
