So...I was reading this thread...and thought of these pictures...

Not only is Mani not wearing her wedding ring (which is understandable if she's getting down and dirty in the fingerpaints with the kiddos)...but she's wearing jeans.

The last I heard, female Jehova's Witnesses are not permitted to wear pants of any kind...I was trying to find out whether that changed but don't find any references that it has...

From a friend of mine who is a JW and I've known since middle school (I'm really old, haha...that's about, oh, 23 years). Her whole life she's worn nothing but dresses or skirts and she has always told me that was part of the JW edict...

Could just be the rules of a more conservative Kingdom Hall in the deep south... now I'm really curious, I'm going to call and ask her...

BTW has anyone noticed a correlation between those 2.
both when happy with P, he wore them like jewelery, always showing them off. Then they get some serious project to do (Mayte directing The One video, getting involve with the ballet company; Mani with Gamillah inc and charity work)... then poof, the women are gone.

As much as Prince talked about taking his woman with him on the road, and Mani at the majority of the celle parties (once Mayte was out of the picture) and at the majority of Musicology tour...
now she is going to Africa wtihout him.... while he is doing shows with Tamar and the twins??

Sounds a lot like Mayte being sent off to Spain while P had a chance to really bond with the new future Mrs. Nelson.

Candace, I think someone ran into her at a Tamar show and Mani told her she was off to Africa to visit an orphanage. If you go to her website In a Perfect World it talks all about it. It has photos of the trip. I'm not sure if the address is IAPW.com or .org.

I was listening to Emacipation disc 2 on my way to work this morning. And it made me sad for him. To me, that disc was reflective of true love on every level. The difference with Prince and you're average joe is Prince has access to lots of women (beautiful women) because of his celebrity. I'm not putting Prince down...I'm definatly not saying the man is incapable of loving just one woman. I think him becoming a JW has a lot to do with humbling himself and trying to come back down to earth. It's gotta be really difficult for him to "come back home" so to speak because he really is right up there with MJ and Madonna on a fame level. One can only imagine how that kinda existance would mess with one's mind and perception of one's self due to the way people treat you and are willing to do for you just because of who you are.

I wish him happiness though. Deep down he seems like a good person.

I find it so interesting how she is looking a little old in those pictures. I saw some about a year ago and their arent very many closeups who make her look young. Shes old.
