It's so interesting listening to music from the past. At the time you don't think about how dated it will sound in the future. I do so agree with you. Do you write music as well? This is not at all meant to put down your music. I liked the music.
Thanks! I loathe Robin's "rapping". I detest the timbre of her voice, her style, her writing.
Noted. Are you a musician? You sure talk like one! Did the Dames ever consider regrouping without her or was it all-Robin, all-Prince or nothing at all?
We came from different parts of the country, so regrouping wasn't even a consideration. I'm in touch with Tracy the guitarist and Alisa the singer but lost touch with everyone else.
Hey - I love this feedback and welcome more. This is so interesting! [Edited 4/30/05 21:45pm] The blessings and curses of being beautiful - a documentary

Well, at least we can NOT blame Robin for the writing now, on that song anyway. A grown WOMAN probably should have written the rap. It may have sounded more believable. Well, to be fair to Kou, I gave him the concept, "Write a rap which tells us how much better the world would be if women ran it." He basically wrote the rhymes to fit my vision and I, a grown WOMAN with the vision, approved his work. I know the vision is over the top but I thought that was cool, cuz sometimes rappers pump themselves up in an over the top way. Hey this was just fantasy. And in 1991, we didn't have people like Condi Rice and Hillary Clinton, so the fantasy was more palatable I think. So in the end, I should take responsibility for the content as well. Sorry you didn't like it, but that's cool - art is subjective at points. While I have taken piano, guitar, flute and drum lessons (I even briefly performed in a group) ...
I do write and perform poetry.
I'd love to read some of it. I have an ear and a LOVE for music. I support local musicians-I'm in St. Louis MO. I'm basically a seasoned groupie! But I believe that the groupie is truly underrated.
You're right. Thank God for groupies. Thank you for existing. [Edited 5/1/05 21:27pm] The blessings and curses of being beautiful - a documentary

So what's the next story about artpal? Hey Krystal, I must admit, I really admire Sheila now that I think about her honest introspection. It really take a lot of courage to admit something like that and change it. I hope Kim the drummer is out there somewhere reading this. I'm freakin' out right now because I have too much work to do. But I can share a very short story for now. Ready for another little story? When we were shooting the "Number One" video, we dressed in outfits that already existed in Paisley Park. The one concern that the Paisley people had about my looks was that my boobs were too small. I'm gonna let you all guess who that protege might have been, but I'm not gonna tell you the answer cuz I don't want to have to pull this thread again. She was one of Prince's girlfriends. So now we know that Prince likes women with small boobs as well as those with big boobs. [Edited 5/4/05 17:40pm] The blessings and curses of being beautiful - a documentary

I never did get to know Prince directly enough to know the exact answer to that, but my impression of him is that he liked all kinds of women just like he liked all kinds of music. Hm. Except I don't think he's been with a real fat woman. Nor a real dark skinned woman. Nor a real Asian woman. But he had so many girlfriends it's hard to know who else he might have been dating. Sure Krystal, there are more stories to come. But first a musical break. I only wish our computer speakers could handle the bass tones better cuz I can't seem to hear Joanie's bass. That's too bad cuz she started this song. I would recommend you download this song and play it in your stereo or anything that can handle bass tones. http://www.garageband.com...aSkZlK2YGk I'm finding everyone's feedback to be extremely valuable, so please do me a favor and let me know what you think. Especially you non-musicians; sometimes we musicians live in our own world and don't know what's up anymore (including Prince). Thanks! Me, Joanie, and Kimberly at rehearsal. This is the only photo I have in the Paisley sound stage. We were later moved to rehearse in an outside facility.

Eventually I will orgnote you with some of my poetry. I'm too busy right now. Work work work! Thanks for the interest. I love the music to The Teacher. Have you gotten any feedback since posting it here. Has anyone written anything to it? I have a few ideas. I just have to find the time to explore them. I am really interested to know if anyone else has responded to writing something over it. Take care. Hey Terilicious, I'm looking forward to reading your poetry. I just posted this, so you're the only so far who has said anything. That's cool if you want to write some lyrics to it; however, I'd stay away from using "The Teacher" phrase as we don't want Prince to sue us or anything. Haven't been able to get to a computer in awhile. You should DEFINATELY (is that spelled right?) get the Dames back together!! I'm sure others here feel the same way. Gotta go. Sorry. Well, now that the substandard rehearsal recording of half a song is getting a rating of three out of five stars in garageband.com, I am considering it. One person even asked if we are going to record anything else he can listen to. I don't know - maybe. It would be an expensive affair for me. Anyway, I need some lyrics.
