Why are the mods here so aggressive?

Since it happened, they've been really aggressive about silencing certain types of speculation. Closing and locking threads that ask just a little too much in a certain direction. Can I have even a vague reason as to why from you? An orgnote? Something?

Why was your post moderated?

1. You didn't look at the stickies -- where the content of your post already is.
2. You didn't use the Google Custom Search in the upper right hand corner of every single page of this website.

3. Speculating about someone folks supposedly care about -- and how they might have died -- is just disrespectful.

4. We don't need 25 posts about the Madonna tribute.

Oh. I forgot one.

5. Posting things in a forum that have nothing to do with the forum you posted in. Such as "Why are the mods here so aggressive" in the forum "Prince Music and More".

How is speculating disrespectful???

This thread is about all of the aggressive moderating of certain topics - one in particular. And the mods are particularly aggressive on this forum.

How is speculating disrespectful???

Because the autopsy results haven't been released and the investigation is still under way.

Is your mother still alive? How would you like it, if after she passed away -- that we all just started speculating about her death? Did your mother die from AIDS? Was she murdered? Did your mother try to get back with her 4th boyfriend? Did he want to? How would you feel if everyone blamed your father for her death -- even though they hadn't been married for nearly 20 years?

I think folks would act a lot differently if they thought of what it must feel like for others to read their nonsense. They don't. That's why there are moderators. If you don't like it, you can get a refund on your subscription fee for being a member of Prince.org and head on over to another site where there's no moderation. Reddit or some shit.

because until people have the facts... it's all just piss and wind really

you're speculating on the death of a human being... not the outcome of a football match etc

saying "oh but i care about him" doesn't give you a pass

just my opinion

Moderating this place wasn't the easiest thing before April 21st.

Now? It's 100x harder.

Between the massive, massive influx of new members who aren't too familiar with the rules, us all collectively in grief and dealing with it in a million different ways, between undercover journos registering and posting leading questions/threads, between the conspiracy nuts, it's getting past ridiculous.

So frankly, you wanna start threads complaining about mods now, that is quite funny to me because it shows you have little understanding of exactly how much we are doing right now. Complaints about any moderator decisions are very, very far down the list of things we give a crap about right now.

But regardless, I'll answer your question. We take the decisions that are best for the community. Speculation is obviously a very sensitive subject right now and there's a very fine line between asking respectful questions and being insensitive. If multiple orgers find your post/thread insensitive, chances are it's gonna locked. Aside from that, look at what suomynona said. There are stickies for certain types of discussion and you need to put your comments in there, because we are trying to maintain a sense of order to prevent the forum being completely overtaken by nonsense, by questions that have already been answered, and by multiple threads about the same thing.

I think that is a perfectly reasonable policy under the circumstances.

Please continue keeping order. I imagine that cat herding is extremely difficult.

Don't U know that we are demi gods? nothing less that absolute adoration

"Prince.org discussion": This is where members can try to discuss the things they dislike in the website and be remembered immediately that unless they want to be banned, there is NOTHING to discuss, period! Worshipping moderators is another purpose of this section.

The moderators are living gods. They are always right and any member who would even hint that they might be wrong on something will be banned immediately. They shall never ever explain why they make a decision when they make one.
