Has Org membership declined sharply?

I've noticed that in P&R, the threads are really quite dead compared to the way they were before.

I could blame this on ebbs and flows, but this is a major election year, and

it's far slower this time around then it was when Obama beat McCain.

Do we have official numbers of org usage anywhere?

I'm just curious. It seems slow in all the forums except the associated artist forum of course.

YES!

The conservative P&R alters have even subsided.

People left the org, for whatever reasons and it has an impact. Do you see any of the Kitties here? Carrie is the only one. Not that the others were involved in politics but the same principle probably applies.

Yeh, I returned for a while, but its very stale. A lot of the more interesting/knowledgeable people have left, its still too American-centric and politically one-sided (leading to an echo-chamber effect), and the moderation is next to non-existent (I've pondered offering to moderate P&R only, but not sure what difference that would really make or whether it would be welcome).

Shame really, it used to be pretty good.

P&R could use a UK moderator. It could use a lot of things. lol

Yep. A new and updated "forum user agreement" would be a good idea as well to make behavioural expectations more clear along with transparent procedures for moderation (i.e. warnings, suspensions, bannings etc).

I think if we could clean it up a little and make personal abuse and trolling a no-no, you'd attract more people to post there.

Mods, if you want to discuss this (and my offer to moderate), let me know.

P&R needs a conservative moderator and a non-US moderator (Europe or Asia).

So far as I know, all of the mods are liberal. I'm a liberal myself, but I personally think it should have a 'mix' of mods in that forum. shrug

Well, you are level headed and there are things we have not totally agreed upon in the past but we have had mature arguments/discussions about it. I am just glad you speak to me even though I am American. giggle

To be honest, I only check in on the org now because of the elections and to keep in touch with a few ppl that are not on FB.

I don't really care too much about P&R anymore, shame, I started out posting there in 2003 before I even knew what GD forum was.

You have been poisened by GD and FB. As so many others.

But it's good. The org has changed and survived before.

Civility in disagreement is something I always attempt..and sometimes fail at of course. And you are of course are the type of person we're missing in that you can handle discourse without prejudice. As of course could Phil....

Hope you and yours are well?

I wouldn't say poisoned. lol

I find GD has changed in the same ways that P&R has. It is all good though. I just want to stay in touch with ppl which is easy to do here, when they are around that is.

biggrin

GD is missing the likes of ppl like Fauxie and Imago to liven it up.
