Are some of you seriously getting your panties in a bunch simply because a few of us decided to reminisce about the past for a sec?

Really? eek

Look, i've seen folks try and contribute interesting and out of the ordinary music topics only to have them either ignored or somehow/someway have them devolve into the same old, same old.

But the bottom line to the story here, it is what it is.
You deal with it or you don't. That's my take.

yeahthat

I love the old as well as the new. But it's just a given that the older the music is, the more time you've had to grow fond of it. I'm even a big fan of music that came long before my time. Hell, all day today I've been listening to Glenn Miller, The Andrew Sisters, Louis Armstrong & Ella Fitzgerald, yesterday it was Lupe Fiasco, The Roots, and Cypress Hill (okay, not BRAND new, but certainly not from the days of mono, lol).

I hope those few posters here on the Org that post on music with depth and substance, though may not receive many comments, don't stop posting. I won't name names (thus adding to the popularity contest), but you few know who you are. Sometimes the topic may go over my head and I may have nothing to add, but I appreciate what you contribute to this forum, and I always take note. Besides, I'd rather just a handful post on something serious with maybe only a few responses than for someone to post yet ANOTHER "Rhianna vs. Beyonce" thread with 5 pages of responses, lol.

Just sayin.

Interesting. A pretty low ratio it seems.

Yet compare that to how many times you've seen a thread derailed into a "Who's better MJ/Madonna/JJ/[fill in the mainstream Pop-Star] argument? hmmm

I've been enjoying the forum of late. There's a nice diverse level of discussion mixed in with the usual. I've also noticed the more troll-type posters who repeat the same ish over and over (slamming everyone else's musical taste) have been laying low.

I know some of you all think the troll sh*t is funny and what not but after a decade, the sh*t is old. At anyrate...

How did all those people get banned ? lol

[Edited 10/27/11 6:04am]

In the case of Muthafunka, he was true to the game since day 1. He has his opinons and a lot of orgers within P&R at the time (especially Mdiver) hate him for it. Timmy & bboy might agree or disagree with me, but nWo in the org pretty much "died" after Muthafunka was banned. sad

EvilWhiteMan was a political right-winger from hell! If making up excuses for President Bush in P&R wasn't bad enough, EWM used to post in Prince:Music & More with pretty of negative comments about Prince. I remember EWM once said that Prince never had an album worth buying since Batman, Prince was no longer "cool enough" to ride a motorcycle, and (THE worst comment ever........) Prince wanted white fans more! lol

[Edited 10/27/11 10:58am]

the nWo (me, timmy, mutha, phunk, LBC) def. died when Mutha was banned although the rest of us still post lol

I talk to MF all the time on facebook smile

So,let's make a list of the orgers who used to post in this forum regularly but are now gone....

Harleopolis

Bro915

Pfunkjazz

Cinnie

CalhounSq

MikeMatronix

Christopher

Paligap

any more?

Harlepolis posts only occasionally. I hardly see her on Maryluvs either.

Bro915, don't know much about him.

Pfunkjazz sometimes posts mainly on a Sunday if you catch him.

Cinnie is on Facebook...and has no intention of coming back.

Calhoun is gone probably

MikeMatronix posted two weeks ago.

Christopher sometimes posts but I think he's real busy doing music so much that he doesn't come on the board but you could catch him on Maryluvs.

Paligap posted Sunday.

Maryluvs?

Hell, just look at the threads over there now. They're as dull as a Lawrence Welk concert. lol They're all fairly new artists barf and the older artists are the extremely popular and huge selling ones whose music has been played over and over and over on the radio for decades.

Plus, the interesting posters who are characters themselves have left. There aren't a lot of people with different personalities around like there used to be. What seems to dominate now is a bunch of goodie two shoes who want an atmosphere of sitting around a big ole campfire and singing Kumbaya. It's like "227" without Sandra, "Dallas" without J.R., "Dynasty" without Alexis, "The Jeffersons" without Florence, "All In The Family" without Archie, etc. The various personalities have been leaving and what seems to be left now is just a bunch of uninteresting generic posters. It lacks the human touch it used to have. The General Discussion forum still has various personalities that makes things interesting but the Music: Non-Prince Section lacks it now.

On the one hand I really like that forum. It has many users who do not post much on other forums and it - sometimes- has some really good discussions.

What irritates the hell out of me tho' lol, is that most of the people only want to talk MJ, Madonna, JLo, Britney, Bieber or whatever celebrity.

And then there are tons, literally TONS of threads on all the other musicians that hardly a soul ever posts on. That entire forum is flooding with threads like that.

Terrible to see really sick

I can't come up with a Janet, Madonna or Glee reference to make my thread more appealing...
