"We are Trying to get Prince.org on a New Path"

http://prince.org/msg/7/367553

I just read this comment by the new moderator with regards to locking this thread.

Although I do agree the thread is trolling and not particularly useful, I was struck

by the first line of the last post: "We are trying to get prince.org on a new path."

It's peaked my curiosity. Who is we?

The reason why I want to know is not to bitch and complain, but I'm genuinely

interested. The formula for the org has been wildly successful, despite every

possible attempt by the Prince camp to give ben a hard time over the years.

Housequake, moquake, and a number of other sites never enjoyed the number

of members and active posters.

It seems like a widly successful formula to me.

So, this new path, is it coming from ben, or a consensus among the moderators?

If so, which moderators?

And what is the new path? Is this just something that entails more rigerous moderating

of the threads (I think most people would welcome that), or is it an active attempt

to change the tone of the threads, in which case on the affor mentioned "ass kissing"

type fans would welcome that.

This isn't me being sarcastic by any means, but rather me just pointing out that

we've never had a team of moderators, nor ben himself, try and determine the

tone and direction of the threads in Music & More. Prince.org has always prided itself

on being the website that allowed open discussion about all things prince, so long

as you never ever mention or hint at the fact that he might be gay.

Can the moderators please elborate about this 'new path' that I've read about.

And what ist he expectation of the orgers who post on it. Is this new path

more about trying not to neglect the threads, or is it some form of active content

engineering?

peace

.

It's piqued, not peaked.

I hope we're not closing every thread that doesn't kiss Prince's arse.

I think there's a difference between orgers attacking or defending Prince (either of which is fine and to be expected) and orgers attacking each other for being "haters" or "ass-kissers." There has been so much flaming going on in either direction that I'm not surprised the mods weren't able to keep up with all of it. I wonder if this is partly due to the PFU mess starting to recede into the past and an influx of new fans who don't know the history between the man and his fans. Or perhaps we're getting gripy because Prince hasn't released any music since last year (that is, if you even count 20Ten). Or it could just be a few noisy people who like to flame other orgers and have been able to get away with it for a while since the mods have been understaffed. In any event, a lot of sniping has gone on in PM&M that would have been shut down quickly if our standards weren't so low at this point. If promoting healthy, civilized debate is what it means to move on to a new path, I'm looking forward to it. We don't want the org to turn into this:

I was curious about that myself. Excellent questions. Perhaps the Moderator that made the specific remark could come and clarify their meaning, so the rest of us know what this new path is and if we want to continue on it?

I knew from the start that I loved you with all my heart.
