I have a suggestion...

or request maybe.

My account was deactivated for the FIRST TIME last week innocent and I was a bit confused by it because I didn't really know what I did wrong. I tried to look at my posts and I couldn't find any [SNIP - Mods] thingy. So..could u briefly explain why I was banned via PM? So that you know, I don't do the same thing and get banned again?

Thanks

That sounds like some kind of technical error.

If you haven't been warned about crossing rules by a Mod

then I don't think a Moderator deactivated your account.

[SNIP-Mods] doesn't mean your account is going to be deactivated

Thanks for the response. I used to get emails from Prince.org and recently I closed my gmail account. I hope it had nothing to do with that.

Why is it that when you send an email to admin, you NEVER get a reply? Seriously, what's the point of having it as an option?

I mailed with a concern and some suggestions after getting a temporary deactivation as I was not told what it was for and was totally confused as to why I got it.

But of course, to this day I have not received a response.

I want to know if a mod, on their own, makes the decision to ban someone? Or if it's a collective decision made by all the mods in that forum?

I ask because of bias...and surely having a a few mods look at the post(s) in question would eliminate that.

I don't believe that the answer "well, all the mods aren't always available" is a legitimate reason to not have this procedure. If they can't be available to do their mod duties, they shouldn't be a mod.

Either have mods that are available, or a temp ban is not done until all the mods take a look at the situation.

When U say 2 Admin, do you mean to Ben(group owner?) or just to the mods in connection with this forum?

From what I understand more than 1 mod has to look over the situation before a ban can take place.

Since I have never received a response, I have no clue who it goes to. It's the admin email address, that's all I know.

And I would like confirmation that more than one mod reviews posts before a ban takes place, please.

ok I can ask about it for u

I don't usually send an email. Maybe their emails need to be updated, I've changed emails over time, and depending on how much mail they get it can get lost in the mix (especially going into a 'Junk Folder') because their email doesn't recognize you.

I've also written to a mod (an orgnote) regarding some questions, and my orgnote included a question, and I haven't got a reply. More than two weeks waiting. If mods can ban orgers (and that's fine, of course), orgers should receive some attention or explanation if they don't agree with the ban; or, at least, answers to questions that, in my case, aren't even related to a ban.

Not that it's very important to me, but things like that reveal that this site has faults that I've always rejected in the internet and that I'm sad to find here too.

I can't explain everything, but I know 1 or 2 mods actually had their computers down for 2-3 weeks.

So if you orgnoted them you prob wouldn't get a response.

ban or suspension?

The faults is in that in the last few months -year there are moderators whose lives have changed (drastically) where Moderating had to take a back seat longer than they expected. I know we expect a lot from this site. But it really isn't like a Verizon call center. There really aren't people sitting here 24-7. Real life stuff is happening in Moderators lives too. As well all moderators aren't Moderators in every forum.

I don't mean to be rude, but if you really don't have the answers there really isn't any reason to reply trying to explain that it might be this or might be that.

I know you're a new mod and you are just trying to be helpful but 'm cool with just waiting for answers from those that really have concrete answers.

Suspension, I think (2 days). I'd like to discuss it as I didn't agree. But it would be enough if a question I made to the mod, that wasn't directly related to the suspension, was answered. I wrote to the mod of the forum who I see posting sometimes and who continues being a mod. And, by the way, who has been posting here during the 20 days I've been waiting.

It's OK, I know they can't be here 24-7, but I'm talking about waiting for three weeks.

You obviously haven't had any answers as of yet??

But I'm cool, I'll leave it and let someone else answer for you. I'm out of it.

Hope U find happy resolution

I've always been curious.

Whenever I've made my avatar a picture of an orgers breasts they were always approved. But, when I posted your breasts, it took about 7 rejections (I'm not exaggerating) to get them approved. And it wasn't like yours showed more tit or nipple or anything.

I think someone hates you. hmmm

Then again, I don't blame them with that bigass pubic mound. shrug

I am no longer an active moderator. I officially resigned back in June. I think. Anyway, a long time ago. Ben just hasn’t updated my access yet. So this is not based on current practices, only what was happening when I was a mod. So there’s that disclaimer.

The emails to “admin” go to Ben only.

Only one mod is needed to issue any kind of ban – it is not a consensus process. Occasionally a mod will contact another for advice, or if someone has a dispute and it will be discussed among 2 or more mods but most of the time, it’s one person’s decision and that’s that.

Thanks Carrie.

So we know for sure that there is a problem with bias and that needs to be fixed asap. Time and time again, I see certain mods being accused of bias and nothing has been done.

Personally, I am sick of it. They snip shit, making it look like it was a flame post when it clearly wasn't, they give suspensions that are not warranted and they delete threads that are not breaking any site rules but hey, they just don't like it...so it's gone.

Not sure why the other mod that has been actively posting in this section couldn't answer our questions.

Oh wait.... confused

I would like to see something done about this.

This is the internet. No-name, nowhere people. If this was a physical forum, there would be a way to contact the moderators. But how can you do it in the internet if they choose not to respond you?

Not answering is a way to show lack of education. But who cares? She doesn't have a name, we don't know who she is! Brave.

I have given up waiting for a response. But I appreciate that you insist.

Wow that's a lot of accusation there

If the other Mod is me, I'm still learning how to deal with certain issues. And I'm not an empowered Mod in every forum so I think dealing with issues in "Prince Music ..." would be different than in General Discussion or Politics & Religion

I personally am trying to stick to those rule outlined, keep the mess out as much as possible and keep the forum directed on Prince Music .. its the More part that gets sketchy

I find it frustrating that so many orgers have tried to contact Ben about the same issue and he has not replied or done anything about this problem. Even other mods have brought it to his attention and NOTHING has been done to resolve it.

Browsing through the forums I notice that some threads are locked by mods who take issue with the thread being 'nonsense' (this is their justification for locking the thread). Sometimes I think they are correct, but it seems to me that this already hints toward some bias. 90 percent of the threads on this site are nonsense so why lock only a few of them? I quite like a lot of nonsense, I think it is funny. So really, I would like mods to be extremely liberal and keep locks down to a minimum. The same applies to snipping.

Well as u and I can see a lot of 'nonsense' thread do stay unlocked. And it doesn't mean there is bias.

There are tons of threads started, and again people do have lives. It really can be hard to wade thru what's up there and if a thread is going but an ok conversation happens it might stay open. Then someone starts a duplicate thread (which happen all the time).

Snipping is another thing. A lot of times that happens when threads get off course or there is arguing and a good thread is about to go bad. In order to keep it cool to snip the 'offending' posts is needed. But again if we just follow the rules in most cases we wouldn't have to worry about that. Some people get into a thread that has moved on from an arguement, find a flaming post, and then get it started again. Some people do come here looking to fit with people too...
