I'm starting to get a bit disenchanted by the whole Prince.org thing.

I AM a Prince fan, but I am not Prince obsessed.

Why do you have to love everything Prince do or defend everything Prince does, in order to be accepted around here?

Yeah, some of the more recent thread have been about his "f-ups". Well, guess what, that's what he has been doing lately...."f-ing up"!!! He hasn't been honoring his business arrangements and it's his fans who have got the short end of the stick. Obviously, he has "money to burn", because it's nothing for him to cancel a concert (at the last possible minute). I'm sure he is fully-aware that he will be sued for his actions. My respond...he doesn't care, so why should I?

To sum this rant up...

Prince is a very talent artist who has proven that time and time again. He has lasted this long, because we (his fans- on both sides of the fence) haven't given up on him...yet.

It appears to me that we're seeing an influx of people joining the site who weren't tuned in to the various battles between Prince and his fans going back to the 90s. I joined the site fairly recently myself, but I'd been lurking long enough to know the lay of the land here, and I was of course aware of all the shenanigans going back at least to Crystal Ball. What I'm seeing now is certain members who just joined within the past few weeks jumping on people for being haters, as if Prince is a perfect angel who deserves nothing but adulation. Some of these new members may be old members who were banned (or quit) and have reappeared under a new name. Others may be genuine new fans who caught one of Prince's recent concerts and can't fathom why the attitude here is so different from what you might see on other fan sites (particularly those that are linked to an official website).

I could be wrong about this, but it does seem like the eternal debate about what it means to be a fan has gotten uglier lately, and I'm wondering if it's because the battles of the past in which Prince attacked his fans directly are being forgotten.

There's a few people on here that only post negative things for the sole purpose of doing precisely that , and then there's the fams who can't take any criticizm whatsoever

I so agree!!!

That's why I'm thinking that you "can't win for losing" around here. If I post that he's an ass for playing with his fans money and emotions cancelling concerts left and right...I'm being negative.

On the flip side, if I post that Prince, well, I can't think of anything at the moment that would classify me as a fam. He's just making sooo many questionable choices right now, that I can't think of anything that I can extremely love him for or about. But, at the end of the day, I am a fan of his or I would not waste my time on this website.
