WHAT'S LEFT TO TALK ABOUT???

So the org has pretty much covered everything from his music, his best songs, fav videos, worst album/best album, pic threads galore, his movies, his women, his bandmates, whether he's broke or rich, his jizz, his hair be it fake or real, his beauty mark, his mansions, his shows and after parties, how many siblings does he have, did he get hip replacement, is he really black or is he italian, his JW beliefs, his lost baby, did he steal songs from friends, his bodyquards, what he eats, did he do drugs, his hobbies, did he get his nose fixed, does he hate gays, is he an egomaniac, his obsession with virgins, his schlong, his ass, his shoes, so on and so forth.

What's left? Have we indeed covered everything? eek Are all Prince topics essentially beatdeadhorse

You are mainly focussing on gossip and secondary issues.

What about topics that focus more on the artistic / musical aspects? IMO these kind of topics often get snowed under by more trivial ones.

To give a few examples:
- Prince's arrangement skills on the Lovesexy album, how do they compare to Frank Zappa's or Duke Ellington's?
- Is ATWIAD really Princes attempt to create a 'Sgt. Peppers'? Or is it more influenced by the psychedelic soul movement?
- What has been the influence of the 'Minneapolis sound' (1980 - 1984) on the music that came after it?
- Is Prince a musical copycat, traditionalist or innovator in the first place?
- Princes work with arranger Clare Fisher, groundbreaking or not?

I am sure these kind of subjects have been discussed before, but somehow they seem to get overshadowed most of the time by gossip shit about his hips, yet another topic with people drooling over old Prince pics or topics about 'what is your favourite Prince song / album / era' WITHOUT people argumentating their choices.

As I said, when people name their most favourite Prince song / album / video / era, most of them just give a list, without offering real argumentation. What is too learn from that?

If anything, this site lacks topics that take an insightfull look at his music and and lyrics. It all stays a bit on the surface too much.

So, every topic that is not about gossip, and goes deeper then a bunch of lists is welcome IMO.

Well I started a topic about song requests during Prince concerts and only three people replied to it unfortunately.

But there is enough stuff over to talk about and to make comparisons with.

We can talk about the same things, over and over again, whenever anyone new joins. Just like we've been doing for the 8 or 9 years since I started lurking.

The majority of topics are brought about by people who don't have lives themselves so they often ask questions like "does Prince pick his nose?" and along those lines. I WISH there were more intelligent conversation about him rather than all the fluff BS.

I use to try from time to time to start serious threads but got scant replies so I don't bother any more. I'd be better served to talk about his earlobes if I wanted a successful thread. sigh

There will ALWAYS be something to talk about where Prince is concerned. He's always doing something, whether we are down with it or not. As long as he is still in the music industry, he will always do something that will give us something to say. Just stay tuned and see what happens next. nod
I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

http://www.amazon.com/exe...ninimports

and there is another one i have that they did the whole purple rain album including the b sides as a orchestra..i'll post the name of it when i get home
man, he has such an amazing body of music that it's sad to see him constrict it down to the basics. he's too talented for the lineup he's doing. estelle 81

confuse

Cnote is instrumental except for Empty Room.
Xpectation is instrumental as is NEWS and Kama Sutra...

There's also a VHS of orchestra and ballet set to Prince's music.
